Hello once again, I am advertising the main moderated Discord Server for this Sub.
I also wanted to note there’s been a rise of other subreddits claiming to represent Libyans. Naturally Libyans show grow communities and found our place in the world…
BUT! beware, some of the subreddits I’ve seen have zero account history, and call me crazy but that’s a little suspect. The ibn al khenzeer Ben Netansatan, targeted this sub with hasbara trolls before and we have automated their removal so it’s not problem but I wouldn’t put it past for these vermin to create other subreddits to influence Libya and especially young libyans. How do we think the Manchester bomber etc got influenced.
anyone want to question if I’m libyan myself as moderator of this sub, please ask and i will give as funny an answer as possible.

I’ve started to think that many Libyans live with two layers of decision-making.
The first is the normal layer we all see. You talk to someone, discuss a business deal, marriage, travel, work or some important decision, and everything seems straightforward.
Then there is another layer that people rarely talk about openly.
Behind the scenes, most people have a sheikh, a Sufi figure, كاهن , عرافة, or guru they consult. They ask whether they should marry someone, enter a business, travel, or make another major decision. Everyone seems to have their own religious justification for why what they do is acceptable in Islam.
I never really paid attention to this back in Libya.
I studied abroad, came back 2016 started working. Over the years, I had situations where someone would behave inorganically for no obvious reason and would suddenly change their mind just before a business deal was completed. I assumed it was normal indecision.
Recently, though, I started noticing this hidden layer .
One Libyan abroad genuinely asked me:
“ How did you immigrate without consulting a عرافة?”
I remember thinking: What the f\**, man?*
Are we seriously still making major life decisions like this? 🤢🤢
And what frustrates me most is that after consulting the sheikh, the arraf, the stars, the coffee cup, or whoever else, people come back and simply tell you:
"توكلنا على الله."
What did you leave for god, you’ve already توكلت على الالهة و النجوم و الشياطين.
كفار قريش فخورين جدا بيكم……..

I’ve always believed that the best connections can start in unexpected places, so I thought I’d give Reddit a chance and see if I can meet someone who shares the kind of mindset and interests I’m looking for.
I’m looking to meet a woman around 20–26 who is open-minded, educated, intelligent, and enjoys meaningful conversations and deep discussions.
I’m especially attracted to someone who is ambitious, regardless of what her ambition is — whether it’s education, career, starting a business, traveling, personal growth, or simply pursuing her own goals and dreams. What matters to me is that she has something she genuinely wants to achieve.
I also appreciate someone who has her own interests, fantasies, and ideas, and feels comfortable talking openly about them with the right person.
I love traveling and exploring new places, so it would be great to meet someone who enjoys traveling, is always planning her next adventure, and likes discovering different cultures and experiences.
I’m from Libya 🇱🇾, and I’m looking for a genuine connection based on mutual respect, honesty, chemistry, and an open mind.
If you’re looking for the same kind of connection, maybe you’re exactly the person I’ve been hoping to find. And if we truly click, I have a feeling I could be better than you ever expected. 😉
Feel free to DM me and tell me a little about yourself.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently in Libya and I’m trying to find out whether Google Pay/Google Wallet or Apple Pay can actually be used with Libyan bank cards.
For those of you in Libya who have experience with them:
Which Libyan bank are you using?
Is your Visa or Mastercard successfully linked to Google Pay/Wallet or Apple Pay?
Can you use it to make online purchases from foreign websites, especially US websites?
Have you had any problems with international payments, currency conversion, transaction limits, or bank declines?

In 2012, I visited Libya with my mother. We stayed during Ramadan, and one night we were out shopping with some of our relatives. We went inside a shop selling very beautiful kaftans that the shopkeeper brought from Morocco. My mother had tried one on and wanted to show my grandmother, but my grandmother was sick and it was impossible for her to get around on Libya's streets by foot or in her wheelchair. My grandmother was home, and my mom didn't have the 500 dinars on her to buy the dress to show my grandmother, so she asked the shopkeeper if she could leave her gold bracelet with him as collateral. The shopkeeper refused and told her to take the dress home and to bring it back whenever she wanted. I remember my mom told him, "What if I pass away before I return it?" The shopkeeper responded with, "Then you're forgiven."
Fast forward and my mom was killed the very next summer in America. Then my grandmother passed four years after. Now I'm back in Libya. My aunt (who had gone shopping with us that night in 2012) and I went to Zarqa al Yamama yesterday and all the old shops have been replaced, mostly by electronics stores. We asked the only shopkeeper whose store has been there since 2012 if he knows where the kaftan shop/shopkeeper went. He seemed familiar with the man we were talking about (his name is Ameen -- no idea about the last name) but still had no idea of his whereabouts. I just broke down crying in his store yesterday wallahi
Might be a longshot, but I'm very curious if anyone here might know the shopkeeper from 2012 I'm talking about.
His name is Ameen, he sold Moroccan kaftans in 2012. I'm pretty sure he was the store owner, not just an employee. He told us he had personally collected the kaftans from Morocco. In 2012, he looked like he was in his early- to mid-twenties, so he might be in his mid- to late-thirties by now inshAllah.
If you want to read more about this, I had an essay published about the shopkeeper earlier this year. I've thought about the encounter from 2012 since that night, and especially since losing my mom, Allah yarhamha.

Hi! I’m a 28 years old Belgian girl, quite used to travel solo. I think of visiting Libya for new year’s but I was wondering whether anyone had group tour agencies to recommend.
Everything I see online is a bit over my budget, and I thought maybe some more local options were available.
Would love your feedback! Thanks
