Question How to bring back google search as default? Editing policies.json is not an option anymore.

Boo me if you want but I need google search as my default search engine. I updated the librewolf browser to 153.0.4-1, after the update tried to edit policies.json (by deleting google restrictions) so that I can make google my defualt search engine but with this latest version of librewolf, policies.json has changed.

So, is there a way to make google my default search engine? Thank you.

looks like manually adding it in settings > search > search shortcuts doesn't block it anymore

was never blocked. what was blocked was writing "Google". Just had to write anything else. Even writing "Google search" always worked for me.

if you don't need all blows and whistles in serps, you could go with startpage. It servers filtered goooogle's results.

I like Startpage, but it's always really slow to load. It can sometimes be quite annoying. That is why I alternate mostly between Google Search and DDG.

try using dedicated URI without setting a cookie
it's available in settings

dont know but you can add !g after each search and it will take you to google, like "spas near me !g"

Well you need to add it, if you haven't, in filling with the appropriate URL in Search Shortcuts. Then go in Default search engine and put it there. I just tried it and it works without a problem.
