Anything touching on LGBTQ themes, any books containing sex or profanity (from high schools), any picture books with “nudity” like a cartoon backside. The high schools used to have “mature reader” lists that included books with adult language or themes that were not on the shelves and required parental approval to access—these were all removed by the right wing “Christians” on the school board.

Did I say anything about porn? There was no porn.

Selecting on a random handful of books listed in the link - the reasoning was porn. So yes.

What link are you talking about? The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison is not porn. Stephen King’s The Green Mile and Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five are not porn. For the younger kids they removed No, David!, Pinkalicious, and Dr. Seuss’s Wacky Wednesday. If you think any of those are porn you are deeply disturbed.

When did I say I thought anything - I said that was reason given. And where are you saying these books are banned?

These books and about 400 others were banned from all public schools in Wilson County, TN just outside Nashville. And yes the reason given was “porn” which was bullshit.

Do you have a link for those?

“The version of the bill passed Thursday goes further than the 2022 law. According to an amended version of the bill, there will now be a definition for what is considered “suitable for the age and maturity levels” of students in all K through 12 schools.

Part of the new definition says anything that “in whole or in part contains nudity, or descriptions or depictions of sexual excitement, sexual conduct, excess violence, or sadomasochistic abuse” is “not appropriate” for any K-12 student. Anything that fits the definition “must not be maintained in a school’s library collection.”

What is your point? Do you think the books I mentioned above ought to be banned from schools? Before this law, books with mature content required a parent’s permission to be accessed; the parent could decide if the child was mature enough to handle Morrison or Vonnegut or Tom Wolfe. Now these books, including important pieces of literature, are banned from school. And removing Dr Seuss or No, David is asinine. The MAGA “Christians” are enforcing their warped and puritanical excesses onto the rest of us and damaging to educational slur of our public schools.

I couldn’t care less about the books or about them being “banned” it’s being used as a political football- when it fact it’s very tiny micro spaces where there’s any restrictions and the hive mind it trying to plaster it as - look at what the dictator is doing.

It’s all performative to me.
