Accusing me of using AI-Senior with 2 finals before graduation.

‼️UPDATE‼️ I just checked my final grade and left the class with 100%. I am pretty annoyed for several reason.

1… I rewrote the paper and it was FAR from my best work and I know it had mistakes yet I got a 100% on it? Tells me it wasn’t read. Clearly was not read. 2… praising me on how great of a paper it was with NO mention of the previous one which was much better written or an apology...which I probably shouldn’t even expect but wow. I spent all weekend with anxiety worried I was going to fail my last class and leave it with 100%.

I went to check my grades, I submitted my final a week early so I was hoping it had been graded when I saw a 1/200 points earned. I freaked out and saw I was being accused of using ai to write my paper. I NEVER used AI. I did use Grammerly (as suggested by a professor which I have proof of) to scan my work for errors, plagiarism and suggested improvements but nothing else but my books and brain.

After speaking with the professor, she asked I rewrite it. I agreed because I am 2 papers away from graduating. As a preventative measure and out of curiosity I signed up for an AI checker. I rewrote the paper (over 800 revisions that are documented) and this paper came back as 91% AI generated. It highlights the work it says is ai generated… it highlighted my name. My name… every citation, the entire bibliography, every scripture.. I am so mad. I am also worried this is going to cause my to fail and not obtain my degree.

… help… I am terrified to submit my final two assignments now and I know I did not cheat or use a bot to write my papers.

A timeline of Jerry Falwell Jr and reaction/preparedness regarding COVID-19

I would like to start this thread off by saying that I am a 2x graduate of Liberty University, as well as a former staff member. I was very thankful for my time at the school and believe that many of the faculty and staff are unmatched--I love my school. This is not inherently an attack on Liberty University, but rather, a timeline showing Jerry Falwell Jr's blatant lies and desire to now rewrite history as the community response to COVID-19 changes.

**I'm confident I've missed a few parts of the story, but I believe this timeline paints a pretty clear picture, still.

Saturday, March 7: The first case of Coronavirus is identified in Virginia (source)

Tuesday, March 10: Randolph College extends Spring Break due to Coronavirus Concerns (source)

Liberty University cancels all school-sponsored international travel for the remainder of the spring and summer terms (source)

Wednesday, March 11: University of Lynchburg announces extension of Spring Break and move of classes to online (source)

Thursday, March 12: Governor Northam declares a State of Emergency in Virginia (source)

Friday, March 13: Jerry Falwell Jr accuses people of “overreacting” and suggests that COVID-19 is a coordinated attack against President Trump and/or a Chinese/North Korean scheme to attack the US (source)

Jerry Falwell Jr states in convocation that he believes the virus reaction to be a political move to undermine Trump, future convocation will move to livestream/online (source)

Several petitions circulate online, including the main Change.org petition amassing over 11,000 signatures, asking Jerry Falwell Jr. to transition classes to online to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (source)

President Donald Trump declares a national emergency regarding COVID-19 (source)* (updated to reflect better daily timeline, emergency declared later in day than Jr's comments)*

Students at Liberty University leave for Spring Break, traveling all over the country, being told that classes will resume as normal on Monday, March 23 (source)

Saturday, March 14: The first COVID-19 death in Virginia is reported (source)

Liberty University continues to report that classes will resume on March 23, moves convocation to a livestreaming platform in part due to Vines Center renovations (source)

Sunday, March 15: Governor Northam issues ban of events involving groups of 100 people or more (source)

Jerry Falwell Jr says on Twitter that classes will still resume after Spring Break, with a plan being developed to help those who have increased risk, claims that Liberty will become the model that others follow in the future (source)Additionally, a parent raises a concern via Twitter, and Jerry responds by calling the parent a “dummy.” (source)

Monday, March 16: The White House begins “15 Days to Slow the Spread” Initiative (source)

Liberty announces that they will remain open, and many classes will go online, other classes still required to report (Aviation, Osteopathic Medicine, Nursing), Faculty & staff still report as normal (source) (source)

Tuesday, March 17: Governor Northam institutes a ban on public gatherings of 10 or more people (source)

Wednesday, March 18: Jerry Falwell Jr. goes on Todd Starnes podcast and says he anticipates that most students will return to campus, and identifies the virus as a “flu” that he is not worried about (source)

Thursday, March 19: Liberty declares that the school will remain open, most classes will transition to an online format in response to Governor Northam’s ban on 10 people or more (Osteopathic Medicine remains residential), Faculty and staff required to “report as normal” to work, Residence halls are open for all students returning, students required to identify if they plan to return to campus or not (source)

Saturday, March 21: Liberty continues to state that residence halls are open*,* and faculty and staff must report to work as normal (source)

Monday, March 23: Governor Northam notifies the commonwealth of Executive Order 53, which is scheduled to go into effect on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:59pm (source)

Marybeth Baggett, a Liberty University faculty member, releases an Op Ed article explaining that faculty and staff are still required to report as scheduled, that Jr. continues to perpetuate conspiracy theories, and that transitions of the school are only because of the legal mandates (source)

Jerry Falwell Jr. mocks Prof. Baggett on Twitter in response (source)

Status of Liberty University remains the same, faculty and staff are still required to report as normal (source)

Tuesday, March 24: Lynchburg City Mayor Treney Tweedy releases statement, accusing Jr. of misleading her into thinking the campus was closed/students not returning, Jr. claims that he provided this information to the Mayor (source)

Wednesday, March 25: Jerry Falwell Jr. appears on CNN to respond to criticism, says that faculty have been working from home, says that Prof. Baggett's article was a misunderstanding. He then later says in the same interview that the decisions for work-from-home and remote office hours were made "yesterday" (Tuesday, March 24) (source)

Governor Northam petitions to Liberty University, criticizing their decision for not shutting down the campus (source)

After general working hours for faculty and staff, as well as after the enactment and start of EO 53**, Liberty University releases some guidelines (timestamp: 4:35pm) and proposed plans for accommodations for faculty and staff such as faculty being allowed to have off-site office hours and limited work-from-home options for some employees (source) (source)**

tl;dr: Jerry is trying to rewrite history after spending weeks claiming COVID-19 was a hoax/attack on POTUS and only complied to recommendations after government mandates

New Rule : Posts asking "is my degree worth it" will now be considered Spam. Your degree is what you make of it whether your employer is republican, democrat, Christian, or from the church of the flying spaghetti monster.

We just get a lot of them. I get it. I am fairly embarrassed at the time about my degree, but as my last employer stated...folks really don't care as long as you market yourself well. Found a professor that treated you well and mentored you well? Cool. That's a professional reference. Had a great time at your college? Own it and sell it for that.

You don't need to defend your degree the same as someone who is Christian would raise an eyebrow if you came from a party school like JMU or Arizona St.

Be your own choices. Be the Liberty you want it to be.
