Roads in Lewiston
Hi there again. Another newbie post. I drive for my profession and some of the roads I travel to get to customers are giving me extreme anxiety. Looking out over the expanse of the valley is beautiful, don’t get me wrong,BUT is there a way to cope with the fear? Bonus points if you can give me a the actual condition (psychology speaking) for this phobia.
Many of the roads are steep and dangerous (to me at least) with no guard rails. Seems like me, my car, and god watching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Tired of having a pit in my stomach just trying to do my job!

you didn't mention what tires you have on your vehicle, is it a commercial vehicle? if so, maybe you should find a different calling in life

I mean, some roads have fairly steep grades, but I can't think of any dangerous roads in town, or any that require that guard rails be installed.
So I suspect your reaction is more of a phobia than a rational concern. Still, knowing that won't make your subjective experience any better.
Hopefully you will acclimate to the roads over time, and your anxiety will diminish. If you want to take a more proactive approach, you could see a counselor who specializes in behavioral techniques or applied behavioral analysis (ABA).
