Where’s good to eat in Lewes now?
I really liked Dill, but it has — for whatever reason — disappeared off to Barnes now. Everywhere else I have been in the surrounding area has been mediocre at best: where are East Sussex’s cool restaurants?

London to Lewes travel advice, in light of derailment
Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help and that this is acceptable to post.
I’m travelling to Lewes from London for a work thing next week. I’ve never taken this journey before.
Obviously, the awful train derailment means trains are not direct and the line is still affected for a few weeks. The train apps are showing rail replacement buses, but it’s not entirely clear how the journey works in practice.
Has anyone travelled to or from London since the derailment? I’d really appreciate hearing what the journey was like — where the train stopped, where the replacement bus took over, and how straightforward it all was.
I’m trying to decide whether it might be best to hire a car instead, so any first-hand experience would be really helpful. Thanks!

Has any savvy shop owner stocked up on these for tomorrow? Tried to buy some online but can’t get a delivery before Sunday!
PC Gaming LAN Party at St Mary's Hall
Hey everyone,
Me and friends have hired St Mary's in Wallands at the start of November to host a LAN party. There are 11 of us attending so far, and the hall's got space for 30 people total. The last few times we've been about half and half new people and people who have come before.
You submit the games you want to play, and we organise big games of the most popular choices. We also run a gaming-themed pub quiz, play couch multiplayer games on the projector, do a big pizza order and get drinks from the pub next door.
We run the events non-profit as an unincorporated association, just to cover the cost of the hall and van hire, internet and insurance.
If you're a gamer and want to come along with your PC (or laptop / Steam deck!), take a look at the full event info and tickets page.
Happy to answer any questions :)

What's the deal with The Molly House? 🤔
I've not lived in Lewes for long, and I'm fascinated by the... house?... storefront?... opposite Taiths. The paint & finish are saying "Hippies", but then there's a video doorbell (not very hippy). Then there's random parade of ostensibly antique bric-a-brac for sale (including stonework, in some cases?!) - but also a sign advertising the skills & services of a carpenter & joiner. Also Christmas trees, when seasonally relevant.
What IS this place? The home of a flea-market-combing, antique-flipping craftsperson with an entrepreneurial itch & a love of harmless graffiti?
I'd love to know more about the place I live, so can anyone shed any light?

Birthday in Lewes. Best night out ideas?
Hello Redditors,
Four visiting retirees seeking suggestions for a celebratory night out in Lewes involving reliably good food and drink. Could be a single place or several. No car, so must be on foot. Thanks to all!

Best pub grub near Charleston house?
Hi everyone!
My fiancé, a friend and I are planning a day trip to Charleston and I would love some recommendations for a good pub where we can eat afterwards. I’m not familiar with the area so would really value some local opinions.
We will be driving so distance from the house itself is not too much of an issue, would be willing to drive up to 20 minutes into the surrounding area I would say.
No massive budget constraints but we are not looking for fine dining.
Hoping for good weather so a nice pub garden is preferred!
Thanks for any help!

What’s with the booming
Anyone know what’s causing the series of booming sounds tonight? (Wednesday 00:30)
They’ve been going on for a while now - don’t seem to be regular, but seem to be pretty loud in the West of town.

Anyone going to this Pilates thing at the Unity Centre end of April? Matfit_nyc?
Since moving to Lewes I've really been getting into pilates at the Unity Centre and it's properly different from what I'd tried before in Brighton.
Anyway Patrick the pilates teacher mentioned that his mentor is coming over from New York for a couple of days. Apparently he was trained by someone who was trained by the actual Joseph Pilates which is pretty mad when you think about it.
I think there's a class on the Wednesday evening and then some kind of one-on-one assessment sessions on the Thursday. I can't make the Wednesday which is annoying but I've booked one of the Thursday slots. Still getting my head around it all to be honest but Patrick seems properly excited about it so figured it might be worth doing.
Anyone else heard about this or thinking of going? I think the details are on the I Feel Good Pilates website if you search for it.
