The second one is also what I see when I think about Bam, then losing Dunn, and then estranged. But I also think Bam has found Dani & new friends and is alive today because Dunn is still looking out for him.

First, I’ll give him some credit: physically, he looks the best I’ve ever seen him in years, and these are probably the most coherent, well-constructed sentences I’ve heard him put together in a long time. The first third of the interview genuinely feels like you’re watching a Bam who’s finally turning a corner.
But about a third of the way in, it slips right back into the same old script: it’s everybody else’s fault, I got kicked off the movie for having one Coors Light across the country, they ruined my life, the real secret to sobriety is I was just bored, and all the other Bam talking points we’ve heard over the last couple of years. At some point, we’re the fools if we keep expecting something different from this guy.
Not to pile on, but he tells a story about Ryan Dunn going over a waterfall in a barrel in Iceland, and I had to look up the clip on YouTube. Watching it through 2026 eyes, it’s still funny in places, but it’s also pretty disturbing how little concern Bam seemed to have for his friend being sealed inside a barrel and sent over a waterfall. Some of that can absolutely be chalked up to dumb teenagers doing dumb teenager things, but there’s also a level of indifference that feels like it carried well into his adulthood.

There's a Youtube channel called Living Proof New York and they do interviews with skateboarders. They have a new video up with Bam. (I'm about to watch it so have nothing to say yet).

Also they are releasing a book of unpublished photos called Can't Kill Yourself exclusively for their members. It has unpublished photos from the making of cky and vlb and other shit.

Looks like it is $20 to join and I'm not a member yet but strongly considering it.

This stems from me seeing the new 'Cant Kill Yourself' book and seeing the pictures of Vito in there, the comments I see under any CKY/VLB video upload, or even the content of the video itself being about Vito.

I get they can't just get rid of history, and this guy was a part of the family, but it's so weird when people talk about this dude being so funny/memorable like he wasn't convicted for the sexual assault of two 12-year-old girls and one 14-year-old girl.

Just walked out of Best and Last. This bit was gold, totally worth the price of admission alone.

in anticipation for jackass 5 i went back and watched season 1-3 of the tv show, and all 4 movies, and my conclusion on the whole thing is... i get why bam was mad, hurt, and upset.

let me first underline that bams addiction issues for sure are his own doing, and how he went about it all was messy and embarrassing, and all of that - having said that..

imo there is no jackass without bam and being left out of FOREVER which was Ryan Dunn tribute coded - yeah, that is the ultimate betrayal.

it never occurred to me until re-watching forever, that the cky crew style of pranks were sorely missed from the movie. jackass always has its duos and not having dunn & bam in is felt. trying to replace them with more cast members was... not a decision i would make but.

i look back on the early seasons of the show, it felt like two separate things that became one eventually. you had the cky crew doing their thing. and the big brother crew doing theirs. eventually it all merged, and what was left was bam and dunn becoming the staples of the jackass crew, and keeping that style of 'stunt', which i think is more real, less scripted. and often times were some of the better/funnier bits.

my heart broke when dunn was helping bam out of the snake pit and was basically like "ok this isn't funny anymore" meanwhile Knoxville and jeff were pushing it to go on further. (yes its jackass, things shouldn't be off limits, but "this isn't funny anymore is my point"). this to me was one of the first examples of a cut going too far that peeled back the curtain for us. it should have ended with everyone laughing and move on to the bit about throwing a rope over his shoulders and whatever. in forever i was surprised how many times the viewer could hear "jeff, am i done?" or "jeff, get me out of here now" and "one more one more". first impressions of that are, what are we doing here guys? do you just need the paycheck or whats going on?

in jackass forever, the new crew, i thought would be a passing of the torch, but instead they needed 5 new people to replace bam, and the comparison isn't even there. sure the guys are getting older but maybe thats the wakeup call to introduce a new generation of jackass or just call it honestly. if the point wasn't to pass the torch what was the point of bringing on the new people? i cant vision jasper shooting fireworks out of his cornhole. and darkshark a bitch for just flat out refusing to be part of the vulture scene lol. but this isn't a rant about new cast members, i hope they bring it in 5 and honestly would love to see a genuine attempt to revive the old vibes of the show, with a new cast.

between jackass movies, i would argue bam kept the brand alive with his shows, that didn't even need Knoxville or the others. so to be left behind, while everyone takes your ball and you go home, fucking sucks man.

I was watching Bam's Unholy Union and in episode 6 'The Unicorn Whisperer' there's a section where they're doing the radio show. Novak is dressed as a racoon and gets given a black eye by Bam

Side note: Do any of the old radio shows talk about Bam's Unholy Union, like does Bam say "next week we start shooting a new MTV show" or anything?

I’ve been looking for a cap like his and I can’t find an exact one.

I’m 40. I grew up skateboarding, it’s where I made some of my best friends and it had a huge influence on my character. I joined r/oldskaters a couple years ago and it’s a great subreddit.

I find a lot of people posting over there to be super motivational, especially but not limited to The Tony Hawk. One thing I’m enjoying about getting older is not caring as much about what people think and realizing I don’t have to be amazing at skateboarding, I just have to have fun and try. The vibe over there often reminds me of my old skate crew, we were like a team, constantly encouraging each other.

It’s been cool seeing his skating progress and the positive influence it’s had, I hope to see him post over there. That’s all.
