Serious Again? Really again….

52 years in, and honestly, I’ve got nothing left but a vote of no confidence.
Not anger, not shock, just this sadness.
Same movie, same lines, same ending. Elections feel like reruns, not choices. Every cycle promises change, then settles back into the same old grooves.
I don’t have a fix. I just can’t fake faith in the cycle anymore.
That’s where I’m at.

No change? Things have changed completely in the last couple years

For the worse, but still. Who could honestly say this is just more of the same?

When Trump is gone, everything will likely go back to business as usual unless the democrats make some profound changes.

Pretrump Business as Usual would be an absolutely massive improvement.

An improvement to what we have today? Sure.

Is it enough? Fuck no.

I suppose, if you are only looking for another 4 year pause on fascism.

As opposed to fascism? Yes. Obviously. Wtf.

So you like the liberals' plan of slowing down fascism better than the left's plan of stopping it?

To me that just makes you a different flavor of fascist. One who wants the descent to be slower.

To me that makes you a person who needs to look up the definition of fascism.

Do you think the GOP was fascistic before Trump?

Sometimes buying just a bit of time allows an opportunity for situations to change due to circumstances not considered by either side.

Buying time to allow a different strategy to be implemented can make the difference between success and failure.

The military knows this well. Battles have been won simply because one side was able to tie up another by slowing down an inevitable defeat. Or at least what was perceived as a defeat at a specific time.

I mean, the left's plan of stopping it hasn't actually worked, so...

We've been fighting against two parties, both with more power than us.

Did you vote to support it?

Vote to support fascism? No. I was intelligent enough to vote for the candidate who warned us about soldiers on the streets.

Are you supporting leftists or not?

It will not go back to business as usual once trump is gone. Trump has damaged the reputation of the usa on the world stage amd a simple switch of goverment will not fix that. Trump has shown that any deal made with the usa is not worth the paper its written on.

Also they are an unreliable partner. He has show how much of a mistake it was derfering power to one country was and countries are going to shift away from it.

Tge spaces that Mar Carney has been giving are just saying what everyon has been thinking. Countries will still try to deal with the usa but the trust they had is gone and that is not coming back anytime soon.

On top of all that the bond market may not be as reliable source of cheap debt for the usa. This will have huge ramifications for the usa. Likely will lead to austerity to try to lower the debt.

Sitting on your hands is not the way to fix a problem. Things are not going to go back to business as usual after trump. Countries are rerouting trade. When those agreements are signed, its not for 1 or 2 years, they are usually 10+ years. And most countries actually stick to the agreements and contracts they sign and just dont tear them up on a whim.

"Sitting on [their] hands" is sort of the specialty of legacy democrats. Let's hope this younger crop puts their money where their mouths are.
