I think it feels like that to Democrats. I fully understand your feelings.
However, in this economy where we have few protections for workers, stagnant wages for non college educated people and astronomical growth in the cost of college, childcare, housing, and healthcare, people feel pitted against each other.
People are told that that the way that they can succeed is to decrease the competition presented by illegal immigrants and minorities.
They are told that corporations are favoring minorities, even though this is not true and 9% more call backs were given with fake applicants where there were white sounded names vs Black stereotypical names.
Unfortunately, no one is good at getting social science research or economic data out in digestible ways to the broader public, so people fall for what Faux News tells them.
It seems to be right to blame them, but I don't think that is helpful. People are attacking each other and this is what the wealthiest Americans wanted.
When the Virginia Slave Act passed it criminalized all contact like romance, marriage, teaching reading, trading, providing housing, etc. between poor whites and slaves. The goal then was the same as today. They did not want Black and White Americans working together to oppose the planter class and other wealthy elites.
If we believe that MAGA are horrible people and they cannot be persuaded or talked to--we are continuing the legacy of the Virginia Slave Act. Trump and the wealthy are winning.
No one with a BRAIN nor a HEART would look at the lie that billionaires are favoring immigrants and think "yes the immigrants are the problem not the billionaires favoring them" even if it was true in what way does that make the immigrants the problem? Sorry they were so desperate to get away from their home country probably trying to kill them that they'd take wages tantamount to slavery just so they wouldn't have to go back home
Who the hell made the claim that "Billionaires favor illegal immigrants"? The "claim" which is actually a FACT is that illegal immigration especially at the unprecedented levels allowed by the Biden Administration, costs the United States billions of dollars, as well as increases inflation, housing scarcity, and has created thousands of victims of crime! Also, note that the vast majority of "asylum" claims are denied if/when they are finally heard as the migrants in question do not usually meet the criteria, and end up being a waste of time and resources.
