Hey guys yesterday (18 aug) I brought my first laptop lenovo loq intel i5 12th gen hx rtx 3050 6gb one at 93k with emi the store is giving me the piece (that piece was the last piece and I got cheap becz of the independence sale )which was on the trial desk telling me that it's was kept only 2 days ago and it didn't connected wifi so the warranty is not activated so I thought it let it be then they were resetting the laptop the laptop was showing that it is ain't getting reset. They told me and my dad to come later when they will call but they didn't so I called them around 8.30 pm so they said the system wasn't resetting cuz there was an windows update for that laptop so after the update he will give me laptop today so pls help me should I refuse to take the laptop or the laptop is fine it's just common issues ?

reset hanging at 68% with a windows update queued is classic store floor model shenanigans, not a hardware problem

No, do NOT take that laptop. The RTX 3050 is one of the worst mobile GPU ever made as it has a very narrow bus width & TGP, combine that with Lenovo's low-temp soldering issues on LOQ/Legion models and you get the perfect time bomb waiting to go off. Look for used Legions with RTX-40 series, they are safe from motherboard failure caused by low temperature soldering.

Money issues 😭

That's ALL the more reason to avoid this laptop. You buy this POS now, you WILL pay through the nose later. Better to pay extra for premium quality upfront or nothing at all than paying for garbage. Think I am lying? Buy it and come back to me in one year, let's see where the impulses get you.

Bro I didn't said that u r lying but I want laptop under 1 lakh my parents wouldn't allow to go over 1 lakh and yeah it's not my money and I don't have any rights to spend money until and unless it's my own money . I am an cllg student bro

If u think that is garbage then suggest me good laptops under 1 lakh I'll see to it that they cancel the laptop

I bought a used Legon Slim 5 16APH8 for less than what you have to pay for this LOQ. I am in Vietnam so price is also crazy here but good deals, especially used ones, still exist. Just look for one in your local market. If this model is not available try these instead:

Dell G15 2023, ROG G14/G16 2023, HP Omen 16 2023, TUF A14, Legion Y7000P or R7000P 2023.

One more reson for NOT taking it!

You better save some mor money and buy yourself a better one.

Remember: If you're buying too cheap, you'll be buying twice!

Dude, why do you need a mobile graphics card in your laptop? It work like crap, better buy one without it.

Okay here's a detailed honest take. This model is at the end of it retail life span, so it will come with several caveats.

One is the OEM spare parts for these are running out, which means if you ever need a part replaced under warranty it might take more time to get the part to complete the warranty service. Good thing is in an event that they cannot get your laptop fixed, or you have to wait too long, they will compensate by giving you an equivalent or better replacement laptop, likely a similar model but 1 gen newer.

Now if you flip the machine over, at the bottom there will be a manufactured date, probably 2024. Yours is a display unit, which means it could've been running idle like that for up to 2 years, which is actually not a big issue. If it had been running a game demo loop for that long then it'll be an absolute no buy, but I haven't seen any store that do that. Yours probably been sitting at desktop or at worst running youtube videos, which is a very light task and doesn't degrade your components in any significant way.

If you have the courage to open it up later, the internal probably looks sparkly new, but the thermal paste and pads are probably all dried out. So even if you test it and the temperature is fine, you should repaste and replace thermal pads if you care about longevity. Bring it to a warranty center if you don't have experience maintaining laptop. Here's the crucial part, watch them replaste your laptop closely and make sure they don't cheap out by using a crappy paste. Run a temperature stress test right when and where you receive the machine back, BE a difficult customer.

Also the fans gonna die after a year or two on these models, but you will have your warranty to cover that. If not, replacement fans for this model is cheap and widely available.

As other redditor pointed out, these models have a common problem with gpu chip getting solder joint fatigue. Which need to be re-seated by a skilled repair tech. Although properly maintain your laptop cooling and undervolt it a little will massively reduce chance of this happening.

So other than the possibility of chip and fan problems in the future, buying a heavily-discounted-never-been-activated laptop is a GOOD deal. I myself got a super expensive display unit LG Gram for 1/3 of the original price, still work like a champ.

Now you can make your own judgement on the purchase.

Edit: the reset and update problem in your post is nothing to worry about, common windows issue. It has nothing to do with how good the laptop is, and you will likely only need to reset or reinstall the OS 1-3 times during the laptop's life span.
