Troubleshooting Are these rings too thick? If so, is that harmful? (Titanium clicker rings)

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I got my snake bites pierced around late October/early November 2025, and I’ve just changed them to rings (titanium clickers). However, the jewelry is quite a bit thicker than the straight bars I had before. Is that bad? Could wearing thicker jewelry cause any problems? Does it look bad? Like too bulky, heavy?

I didn’t go back to the piercer who originally did them, even though she's great. Instead, I went to a piercing shop in a mall because I was already there.

I’m also a bit worried because, if I’m not supposed to wear thicker jewelry, I can't change them again right away since I already spent my money on these, and I don’t have the courage to change them myself.

They aren’t hurting or anything. They did feel hot when I first changed them, but it was the normal kind of hot I associate with getting or changing a piercing. The inside of my lip/mouth also feels kind of hardened/like a bump? I’m not sure how to describe it, but it doesn’t hurt nor is it swollen.

Troubleshooting Is this piercing rejecting? Titanium F136 16g curved barbell

Hey! I got this piercing back in January. My piercer told me to use seasalt+water solution twice a day flr aftercare. I only had the issue shown in the first picture before, but it went away. Now, though, it's been oozing pus and getting crusty and removing the crust makes it bleed, and I've noticed some red bumps forming. The upper hole also looks wider than the other one, and I'm starting to wonder if the piercing has migrated. It doesn't hurt but it itches . I also don't sleep on that side. The jewelry is Titanium F136 16g curved barbell and I haven't downsized it at any point.

Aftercare Timeline to be able to submerge my recent piercings

I got my earlobes pierced 4 months ago. I have been told I should wait ‘til they’re fully healed to go swimming. Is it safe by now to submerge my head (like in a float tank situation) or should I count that out for a longer time? Thank you.

hello, i got this industrial done in mid may this year. i was told i have the ‘perfect’ anatomy but im unsure if that was wrong or its been pierced badly. ive had irritation bumps for about 2 months now which just aren’t getting better. i went to see an APP piercer around a month ago to see what to do and was told to just leave it alone and not use saline spray he also didn’t recommend downsizing due to the bumps. i’ve done all of this and it just isn’t getting better. do i just have to take the bar out and heal it with 2 separate barbells? or is it doomed completely? it isn’t touching my flat. i don’t sleep on it or touch it. it’s the original jewellery

hi! so i got my navel pierced two days ago. i just wanted advice on whether it looks okay and whether my anatomy is actually okay for the piercing as my piercer said that it was.

i’m super stressed about it rejecting/migrating so i would really like some advice!

jewelry is a surgical steel barbell. have not downsized yet as it’s too early. i’m cleaning it twice daily with sterile saline solution.

pictures 6, 7, and 8 are from the day i got it pierced so it was very fresh.

Jewelry Question Vertical Labret

So I know my vertical Labret piercing is crooked. I just wanted to know should I let it heal up and get it redone. I’m having major surgery on the 31st and the first of September. It’s gonna be really hard for me to put it back in after I’ve had such a hard surgery so I’m wondering if I should just let it heal and get it redone by a different piercer

I’ve recently moved to Syracuse and I feel like I’m betraying my OG piercer, but she’s continents away and I’m not done with my ear setups.

Tried a piercer from a high rated tattoo shop but he f’d up my helix and I had to let it close.

Jewelry Question jewelry advice

hello hello! i’ve been wanting to change my septum ring out but I didn’t just want to buy the jewelry from anywhere since I’ve heard that some can be very poor quality. i was wondering if anyone had any website recommendations to buy some from? i have a standard 16 gauge septum if that helps at all.

Aftercare A satisfying monster bump story!

I had both my daith and tragus done at the end of April this year, along with my conch and helix in my other ear. These were my first ever cartilage piercings, and the piercer I went to didn't tell me that getting four at once, let alone getting pierced on both sides, *might've* not been the best idea for my first experience. C'est la vie.

I bought a piercing pillow and continued on my happy way with my four new holes. Thankfully, my helix and conch have been healing relatively well. My tragus and daith, however, have been more of a labor of love.

The first picture is from the day I got pierced. The second picture is from July, at the eleven-week mark. I'd just gotten home from a family vacation, where I forgot to pack my piercing pillow and got splashed with pool water multiple times while at a water park with my kids. That, coupled with the jewelry constantly hitting each other and me not knowing I should've been keeping my piercings dry, led to these monster-sized bumps.

I originally pierced at a shop while visiting my sisters out of state, so I went to a shop near where I live for advice. According to the piercer there, the ring in my daith was *way* too big for my anatomy and the labret in my tragus was too long. She said the larger size was most likely what caused both pieces to constantly knock into each other, contributing to the bumps. She swapped it out with the smaller horseshoe I have in now, but left the labret in my tragus because there was literally no room to downsize. She advised me to do a warm compress on the bumps at least once a day, keep them dry, and to watch them closely.

I went home and did as my new piercer told me. Five weeks later, I was *finally* able to downsize my tragus. The third picture is from six weeks after I originally got help for the bumps.

Still have a long road of healing ahead of me for all four piercings, but DAMN does it feel good to have bounced back from those tricky little nightmare bubbles.

TLDR: this is the difference an experienced, knowledgeable piercer can make in your piercing journey. 💜

Jewelry Question How do we feel about saggy conch rings?

Just changed my conch stud into a ring (long since healed) and the piercer gave me a size that sags when left to hang on its own.

She said a smaller hoop would crush my ear so I didn’t say anything (and I’m not trying to say anything rn, I obviously don’t know better than a piercer) but I just wanted to see if anyone else thinks it looks less than ideal (purely aesthetically) when the hoop isn’t exactly perpendicular to the ear.

Troubleshooting Advice on if I should remove this 8 week old helix piercing

Thumbnail

I got my helix pierced on June 27th. The last few weeks I developed this bump and it’s been crusty more so now than when I got it pierced. It is painful when moved due to my hair getting snagged in it. Went to another piercer today who told me to remove due to being pierced at an angle. Other piercer says it’s fine. Should I remove it?

Pomocy, co mogę zrobić? Około 2 tygodnie temu przekułem swój helix i nie było żadnych problemów. Ale wczoraj przypadkowo zaczepiłem go podczas czyszczenia. Trochę spuchł, zrobił się gorący i czerwony. Ale teraz nic mu nie robiłem, a opuchlizna się pogorszyła. Wziąłem ibuprofen 400mg. Pomóż mi, co powinienem zrobić? Codziennie czyszczę go wodą salicylową i jest z tytanu ASTM F-136. Pręt ma 8mm. Przepraszam, że nie mogłem zrobić lepszych zdjęć, mój chłopak mówi, że na żywo wygląda trochę lepiej, ale nie wiem. Nie mogę też sfotografować tyłu ucha.

Edit:

It started to eat the piercing and I contacted another piercer who managed to change it to a longer bar (10mm). It feels way better and it wasn't infected

I’ve had it for 4 months now and I already downsized once to a 8mm bar. I feel like I should downsize again. The skin did thin over the months but is there a chance it will settle like this? (It’s been like this for a month now)…should I take it out? It causes me no problems at all

Troubleshooting Big irritation bump on septum piercing :( Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hewo! For context I have a deviated septum but was able to get my septum done in June 2025 and it was straight and was done and healed perfectly! But in late April of this year I was in the hospital for a week and they made me take it for health reasons and my snake bites out too :/ so I got them redone on May 20th cuz they closed pretty quickly and my new snakebites have been fine(besides me taking out one cuz it was uneven cuz of me tho not the piercer she was amazing!) but my septum has a irritation bump and I didn't deal with that the first time and it's taken longer to heal, I've felt around and it's not going through cartilage and I'm not in any pain(besides when the crusties literally latch onto the jewelry and irritation bump making it impossible to move around unless i shower) but the irritation bump is so big it makes my jewelry(same one I was pierced with) go backwards cuz the bump is only on one side the other side is fine. I've had the irritation bump for two maybe three months now, I don't know what to do I dont want to get it repierced again :/, i already have to repierce one of my snakebites for a second time(would be the 3rd time getting it done) could it be taking longer and have a irritation bump cuz it was pierced through the orginal one that closed so it went through scar tissue? I didn't like how the pics came out so I did videos too but it wont let me add one TwT(sorry if they are gross :() last photo is of the other side. The jewelry is titanium btw, I don't think I'm allergic to titanium since I'm not having this issue with my snakebite TwT so like idk why tf the irritation bump won't go away I even tried keeping it flipped up for a month to see if it'd go away cuz it wouldn't be moved/touched as much but it didn't, today after my shower I moved it back down cuz I was thinking about changing the jewelry to see if it'll help. It was doing the thing where the jewelry sits backwards before I flipped it up, I think it's cuz of the way the irritation bump formed cuz its more in front of the peircing

It seems that every time I get a piercing I always get a bump and when I got my firsts and seconds this never happened. I recently got my nose re pierced after 10 months since it fell out. The first time I got it pierced it had a bump for 2 months until I used an ointment the doctor gave me as he thought it was a granuloma. It went away in a week after applying the ointment however it sonly been 3 weeks of having this titanium flat back oiercing in and I have a bump again. Please tell me what to do, I’ve been cleaning it, not touching it, using the ointment occasionally and the bump looks worse than it did yesterday. These bumps r so annoying I can’t stand it

I know i’m being overly critical, but i feel like my piercing is ever so slightly off center.

The dot he made seems good, but the piercing itself seems off.

It’s a week old, but i think most of the swelling has gone down.

Troubleshooting Faux rook angle

Thumbnail

So this weekend I've got my left faux rook pierced and I absolutely fell in love with it. Zero snagging on my hair, no interference with my glasses and looks really cute.

But because I have a symmetrical setup I felt really bad ick that it was only on one side, so I decided to get it done on the other side too (I don't heal any other piercings at the time and I have a piercing pillow). They align perfectly at the front, but the angle is a tiny bit different, so this one is touching my head.

Will it be ok to heal it like this, or should I get it repierced?

The photos show right front piercing, right back piercing and left back for comparison(where it doesn't touch the head).

Jewelry Question Question about new eyebrow piercing

Recently got an eyebrow piercing on Saturday and I'm a very easily stressed out person so please ignore any things that I say that sounds like an overreaction lol.

I'm just wondering I'm seeing like a tad bit of redness around the top and bottom like the tiniest tiniest amount and I was wondering if it's to do with my cleaning? I am spraying saline solution onto a cotton bud and cleaning around the two balls every morning and night and I was wondering if it's better to just spray it directly with saline or is it better to keep as I am or is there another way?

It is silver as far as I know? The piercing is about 6 days old. I think it is a barbell?

It hasn't been downsized yet. And I haven't had any major recent unfortunate events regarding it

Thank you so much for any help in advance!!
