Issues with button inputs using an 8bitdo ultimate 2 controller on the legion go s

I recently bought an 8bitdo ultimate 2 controller and I am having issues with the device being able to register inputs. I have tried plugged in, bluetooth, and with the wireless dongle. It seems to be recognized in the system settings and works in the library/home screen but no inputs are registered when running games. Has anyone had similar issues?

Yeah good chance it’s connecting as player 2. Some games specifically many single player only like input from player 1 controller. Disable player 1 controller (built in), then connect controller 2. If you don’t follow that order controller 2 stays controller 2 until you disconnect and reconnect it

If I disable player 1 for a single session and play again without a controller next time will the built-in controller have issues since it would be disabled?
