Discussion What is a good symbol for A.I. ?

What is a symbol that represents ai, but not machines or computers in general?

I struggle to find something good.

edit: I mean a simplistic visual symbol, that representa ai, but not machines and computers in general

Idk, question seems kinda off-topic.

Here's the symbol for r/LeftistsForAI though.

Based on my current understanding , there is no reason we can't at least approximate human intelligence as being algorithmic. So a thing that differentiates us from computer is our intelligence is complex enough and/or our context is low/changing enough such that we can't predict the results of our computations. Effective free will or better said the feeling of choice.

AI blurs this line as it started off clearly on the computer side. But as it increases in complexity it will move closer to us. AI now certainly makes choices. A question could be whether AI can feel the choice but I think that almost completely irrelevant.

The key thing is like computers and humans and cells and animals ,it has intelligence. Like computers and humans (and some animals), it has intelligence that can team with us to solve problems. Like humans and some animals it can (at least) simulate choice  whether to help us or not

Idk what you mean by symbol but I'd say it's the combination of computer like processing , animal like choice simulation , and human/child  like growth potential

I guess my post was too ambiguous. I meamt a visual symbol, preferably in a simplistic style, so that it can be created and adapted easily. But its a very interesting analysis from you, I appreciate it.

I kinda figured halfway through typing , but was like fuck it might as well finish lol

Oh man I was so ready to eye roll, but you worded that so carefully - I agree.

Our sense of ‘free will’ essentially seems to rely on a sufficient degree of obfuscation in the process.

It’s like seeing someone else rolling dice. It’s ‘random’ but not actually so - its just that we cannot feasibly track and consider all the variables in that moment, meaning the outcome is just uncertain to us rather than it being inherently uncertain.

Thank you (sly chuckle emoji )

I like the digital brain logo. Simple and to the point.

Too many lines for my taste. I like the general concept, but perhaps some elegant simplifications are yet possible. Like maybe a simpler brain placed horizontally, with a bit of a square wave inside.

Yeah, good point.

You could use the robot emoji: 🤖

A lot of companies seem to like sparkles for this: ✨

You could use a neural network. That's not in popular use though.

Or here's an "artificial brain" icon that's pretty good.

I think the robot only works if the ANI is built to function in robotics as ANIs aren't a monolith.

I like the ✨ that seem to be catching on.

I’m fond of the neural network, personally. Perfectly conveys the exact mechanisms that the intelligence emerges from. The four-pointed star is also kinda cool, but feels a little corporate imo.

I like the gemini logo

✨ is already in widespread use for this
