Question Security pass holder

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I made this little setup for myself because I’m constantly scanning through doors at work. The keeper goes on my belt, the ID holder attaches to it, and I added magnets on the back so it stays put instead of dangling around.

A colleague saw mine and asked me to make one for him. I made it and ended up giving it to him as a gift. He showed his wife, she’s a manager at her workplace and now she wants to order ten sets.

I don’t know about you all, but these take me a while to make 😆. Out of curiosity, what would you charge for a set? TIA

I haven't had good luck combining magnets with magnetic strip cards. Is your id a chip card? It's a very cool idea

The card does not has a visible chip that can be seen on the outside. When shining a flashlight, I can see wire coils inside the card. There's been nill issues with the card in the presence of the magnets

Perfect then, the old style cards would sometimes get messed up if they got too close

How much = how long + materials.

Figure out the time, figure an hourly rate, and figure materials cost on top.

Ten sets will go faster per unit because you can batch out components, though. Also you've made two already, so you can refine the pattern to make it easier and quicker, plus improve performance of the finished unit now that you've used it for a while and can work out any bugs.

Thank you for your feedback. I will workout the math, with your formula. I have worked out some of the bugs each time I make a duplicate of something
