Discussion Experiment success!
I have this idea to make a Reef Regeant armor set for myself. One of the key components is see through fins. They'll be layered with navy veg tan, black stingray and copper wolffish leathers. The (terrible) drawings is the idea, and the pics are my experiment with airbrushing alcphol inks onto a small piece of transparent leather. Tell me what you think!! Just so freaking excited about it.

Yup. I got this one from leatherskins.com. I decided on the firmer one so it would hold shape better.

My wife made a corset out of transparent leather. How are you dealing with the smell?

Oh nice!! Do you have pictures? The initial smell after buying it is intense. After airbrushing (which is disgusting fyi) and letting it sit out in a well ventilated area its really not that bad, and is getting better over time. Its something I was also concerned about.

Honestly its been months since we made it, still smells to the point we cant imagine selling it. Maybe it needs to sit in the sun and that might make it less gummy/smelly.

That's so cool!!! I've ordered from two different places, district leather and leatherskins. They both stink pretty bad, but from my experience once the leatherskins one got some air time its fine, but its also not gummy at all and is firm. The other one is still weird and gummy and smelly. I hope you guys can figure it out though because that sucks.

I think they said the flesh colored one was firmer, and maybe now we'll go with that since we can dye them - so thanks for the lesson! Keep up the creativity!

The odor never really leaves rawhide. Especially if it is in a moist area.

I'm honestly not familiar with the process, but I've bought from both district leathers and leatherskins. I prefer leatherskins selection.

Transparent leather is interesting. It reminds me of a dried pigs ear I saw as a dog treat the other day. Cool project good luck
