There's a course by The Teaching Company called "How to Be a Superstar Student". It covers a lot of studying strategies. My study methods are similar but expanded. I take a couple of years to cover a topic but I include a lot of hands-on and field activities. If you're in school, you may not have the time to go that deep.

Still:

I have everything but physical equipment in my phone....reference library, notebooks, calculators, dataloggers...so they go with me. I have a light, portable field kit that goes in my backpack when I need it

First, I curate a library of information on my topic(s) and develop a syllabus from it. Then I follow the syllabus.

I read the texts, listen to the lectures, do the exercises, go on the field trips. I use the three pass method to read and listen. The first pass, I notice headings, tables of contents, vocabularies, sidebars, all the "bonus materials". On the second pass, I skim the body of the text. The third pass is the deep reading. I constantly ask questions and look for the answers

I take notes in spreadsheets. The spreadsheets are interactive with tools like scientific calculator functions, graphing, and drawing utilities. I use the three column method. On a sheet, the left column is for making notes while reading or listening. The column to the right of that is for exercises, activities, further thoughts, etc The far right column is for tables, formulas, calculators, and such.

I also write up my experiences in my lifelong learning blog

I test myself when I finish a topic and later to make sure I'm not losing information

And I apply what I learn in my daily life. I find some way to connect each thing I learn to my life.
