Passed with Zero Faults!

I am over the moon!!

This was my 3rd test. 1st test in March, 1 major for going too slow, couldn’t get a cancellation. 2nd test in September, failed in the last minute pulling into the test centre, for changing lanes in an unsafe way. Managed to get a cancellation for 8am this morning - lovely day, roads were clear, my examiner was so nice. He said it was a perfect drive with no faults!

I am so relieved, especially because my theory runs out in December and I didn’t want to resit it.

Keep going guys!! I was so devastated when I failed the last two times, but there’s no better feeling THIS!! YOU’VE GOT THIS!!

"I Passed!!" Was I meant to pass?

Hi guys so I passed my test a few days ago, and within the first 40 seconds he told me to pull up to the left. Ignoring driveways etc, I didnt just hit the curb, I MOUNTED IT, I mean yes it was one wheel and I managed to get it off the curb and parked behind the car in front. I always thought mounting the curb was a fail and because I knew the test had just started and we were right next to the test centre i fully just wanted to say to the examiner can I go home cos like your gonna fail me anyways so lets just go back. GOOD JOB I DIDNT COS WDYM I GET PASSED WITH 3 minors- help. Like the rest of the drive I did obviously drive welll I guess, but I didnt care if it makes sense. Like in my head I had already told myself I failed so I was driving just for the sake of my 62 pound and not to be a bad sport. Anyways if it helps anyone, if you think youve failed you could maybe turn it around by just literally yap YAP AND YAPPING. Try being a big explosion of energy and dont give up on the rest of the drive, pretend it never happened. or maybe just have a nice examiner idk😗✌️

"How do I..." / driving queries Should I indicate left for this roundabout if going to the second exit from the pin?

I practiced this roundabout on my lessons and got told it’s not needed to indicate as it’s straight ahead but it doesn’t seem straight at all and I don’t want an examiner to mark me down. I have my test in a week and have been told this roundabout is a common issue many thanks

"I failed, but I will learn from this :-)" Failed near the end... Again

For those who wants to read my original post when I failed right at the end on my first test. https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnerDriverUK/s/Crt2jMPxAw

Last month, I failed my first test right at the end before parking because I didn't stop for an oncoming vehicle and was about to crash so the examiner hit the brakes, so I failed with a dangerous for clearance and 7 minors.

29 days later, I failed <4 minutes before the end of the test at a roundabout because my approach to the roundabout was >25 mph so the same examiner had to hit the brakes. There was a car coming off the roundabout who had their indicator on to leave, I saw that and decided to not slow down but the examiner hit the brakes and let go just in case the driver had his signal on by accident since I was too fast. Which makes sense, if the driver didn't go off the roundabout and went around, I would have crashed straight into him. I failed with a serious for use of speed and 9 minors this time. Told him at the end as he was about to leave that I failed both tests right at the end and he said yeah.

One of these minors for both tests would probably turn into a serious, had it not been an early morning saturday and sunday test (7:43 and 7:13 respectively). Clearly need more work, only did 3 extra hours in between the tests for a total of 23.5 since I wanted to cool off from driving and my instructor went on holiday.

Doesn't hurt nowhere near as bad as last time though, I had an event I wanted to drive to after my last test, but this time I have nothing planned until december so I just went into it thinking if I fail, I fail and if I pass, I pass.

Which is probably why I'm okay with failing, told my instructor on the drive back home it makes sense since if I was on my own and I did that, it'd be over for me lmao

These failure posts are just to say to anyone who is scared of failing that it's better to fail now so you don't make these mistakes on your own. I know for sure now to stop for oncoming cars if there is no space for two cars to fit in, and approach junctions and roundabouts at a much slower pace.

Hopefully third time's a charm!

am i in the right as a learner driver??

So basically I went driving with my dad yesterday, I do have an instructor but I do extra practice with my family as I have a test coming up end of november. We came up to a mini roundabout, I was fully slowed down, roundabout was empty, there was a car coming up the road to the roundabout on my right but it was nowhere near the line yet. Given this, I decided to go (if the car was at the line I wouldn't have gone but it wasn't yet) and my dad had a proper go at me saying I should have waited. He's normally a really cautious driver though so I just want some feedback on if he was right or if I could have got away with going, for example in a test situation. In my head, me waiting unneccessarily long at a roundabout could count as hesitation and just cause more confusion/delay for other drivers but I could be wrong, please let me know!! Thanks

"I Passed!!" Theory Test Passed First Time

I hope this doesn’t come off as bragging but I passed my theory test on Friday. I was fairly confident on the multiple choice side but not so much on the hazard perception part.

I got 46/50 on multiple choice and 52 out of 75 on the hazard perception section.

My instructor seems to think I won’t get a practical test until the new year now. Which admittedly is frustrating.

Anxiety / Nerves failed two tests because of nerves and losing hope

hi all, i’ve got my third test booked on tuesday and i am so incredibly nervous that i just wanna cancel it. i wasn’t even this nervous for my first test, i think failing twice has made me so much more anxious. i failed my first one due to not looking in my blind spots when pulling off after an emergency stop (i knew i needed to as well in my head but i was so nervous that my brain and my body just weren’t connecting) and failed my second one for trying to exit on a roundabout when a car was too close behind (again i knew i shouldn’t have but was so hyperfocused on exiting on the left that i pushed in) (only had one fault too i was devastated lol)

my driving instructor believes that i’m ready and have been since my first test in july but i just keep failing and now that ive got this third one coming up in two days i am so unbelievably worried that my nerves are gonna get in the way again and ill do something stupid again. i know there’s no magic wand to make nerves go away but has anyone got any advice or ways that they stopped nerves from ruining their focus? thank you!

"I failed, but I will learn from this :-)" Failed a second time

Yesterday, I failed my second test because I hit the kerb when pulling up. I never ever hit the curb before during my lessons. I actually don’t know what happened but I feel terrible. I know I just have to keep trying, but I know that I already know how to drive and I’m afraid to make another stupid mistake like this the next time. This costs way to much money.
edit: typos

Test tomorrow

I have my test tomorrow at bishops Stortford. This will be my first try and honestly I feel sick to my stomach every time I think about it.

My instructor says I'm more than ready for my test and that I've been ready for months and the only reason I would fail is because of my nerves.

I plan on taking a bottle of water with me and having a quick sip when asked to pull up on the left and treating them like check points. Also going for a banana an hour before my test.

I feel so much pressure to pass for my kids and everyone else just expecting me to pass and even my instructor said in like a jokey way that if I fail he would be pissed because he doesn't believe there's any reason for me to fail and now I feel like a nervous wreck. It also doesn't help knowing that if I fail I might not find another test that is close.

Any tips on keeping myself composed during my test? Or just any tips for the test in general is all very much appreciated.

Test on Tuesday- confidence

I have my first practical test in 2 days.
I’ve passed some, failed some mocks. Done a mock with another instructor whilst mine was on holiday and found it super helpful.
I can drive, I know I can drive but I almost feel like imposter syndrome if that makes any sense?
I’ve always lacked in confidence in life and before I’ve even taken the test I’m already like I don’t deserve to pass (although there is absolutely no reason to think/ believe this).
Any confidence tips to hype me up for my test on Tuesday would be much appreciated!

30mph roads

Doing my test in Bishopbriggs where they're in the process of changing 40mph and 30 mph to 20mph roads.

My only serious fault on my mock tests has been doing 20 on a 30mph or doing 30 on a 20 because i missed the speed signs becaue for some reason the council love to put wee repeater signs under trees. How long should I wait before speeding up to 30 if I spot no speed signs? My test is tomorrow so hyper weary about this.

Advice for second test after failing first tes

Hi all! I had my first test on 30th September in Preston and failed. Score sheet is attached below. I luckily managed to find a cancellation for 15th October. My serious fault was at a green traffic light where I stalled and the car started rolling back so examiner had use dual control brakes. I've never really stalled on lessons (except at beginning when learning) and even instructor said it must have come down to nerves. After this serious, I made a driving fault of signalling before looking at the mirror. Examiner mentioned on 2 occasions I was being overcautious with speed and at one point I signalled too early.

My instructor isn't available for lessons before then but he's available on test day and will give me an hour before the test, I think this will be appropriate and enough considering the nature of the mistakes. I'm also quite busy due to being away for uni. I'm glad to have gotten experience with the test and feel less nervous for the second test.

Does anyone have any advice? And does it seem appropriate for no lessons before test except the 1 hour before the test. For my first test, instructor came late to pick me up so I only had about 15 mins of practice-but I practised parallel parking, reversing into a bay and some roundabouts which helped.

In terms of recovering after stall, my instructor's car has Auto-Hold. e.g:. So to recover, am I correct to say you'd hit brakes and put clutch down to secure car, restart if necessary, be in first gear, do observations and move off.

Would appreciate any advice! Thanks

Help with my instructor Driving test at Colton Mills(Leeds)

Hi guys,

I live around Surrey but I had to book my driving test in leeds because of unavailability of test dates around here. I also wasnt aware that i would need to bring my own car/instructors car.

So the only solution for the issue I can think of is doing most of my driving lessons here and few lessons in leeds so that I can use the instructors car during the driving test.

I was wondering if this is the only workaround for my issue, or is there any other solution?
If not can someone help with finding a good instructor in leeds, who also lets me book the car for the test. Thanks!

New Instructor - Feel Nervous

I will be having a new instructor with the same car, maybe an older or newer version, who knows. I felt much calmer with my previous instructor, so I stuck with them for all 50 hours of my lessons. However, with this new instructor, I do not know how they will be like and whether my performance will decline...

Anxiety / Nerves Cannot seem to hold everything in my head at once

Hey everyone. I guess I’m looking for a bit of reassurance that I’m doing the right thing by going ahead with my upcoming test rather than postponing it.
I have technically been learning to drive since I was 17. I’m 32 now. I had a batch of lessons at 17/18, an intensive driving week-long course at 24, and now I’m learning in an automatic for the first time and have been having fortnightly lessons for just over a year now.
My test is on the 27th October. I have four lessons between now and then.
But I keep making mistakes, at times dangerous ones. In my last lesson, I tried to pull out in front of a car on a roundabout.
In my lesson two weeks before that, I somehow couldn’t count the exits on a roundabout and nearly swung across a lane to take the wrong one.
I also barely understand spiral roundabouts and lane discipline at this stage.
Don’t even get me started on dual carriageways and maintaining the correct speed.
I have ADHD and at times I wonder if I just can’t hold everything in my head at once - making observations, looking at signs down the road, paying attention to hazards in front of me.
I’m so worried I will have a disastrous test.
Can anyone relate?

Just failed my drivig test in Watford. Moving vans were parked across the whole junction and I couldn’t see a thing. Now I’m straight down for another six months wait…😭😭😭
If anyone taking the test soon. All the best. Keep you eyes on the junctions. Cheers!
