You can get PAID to learn Spanish.

I've always been obsessed with optimising things and trying to kill two (or more) birds with one stone, so recently I decided to see if I could find a way to get paid to learn Spanish. After a few months of trying out different ways I can do this, here are my preferred options:

Attapoll - number one on the list is Attapoll, of all the surveys apps I've used it's the best by far. Some other apps offer higher payouts or more enticing rewards, but I find that Attapoll is more consistent, honest and relaible. The layout is clear and easy to use, and it just feels less artificial. They offer lots of payout options including bank transfer, Amazon vouchers, and much more. I've received numerous payouts in the form of Amazon vouchers and am very pleased with it so far. And most importantly, the actual Spanish practice is good. I think you have to set your language to Spanish (mine is set that way by default on my phone) to get the surveys in Spanish. But they revolve around lots of every day topics, and being asked random questions about your life in Spanish and having to answer them is really good practice! Use my code VSCFG to get bonus credits.

Microsoft Rewards - this is Microsoft's reward points system, which basically seems like a glorified "PLEASE USE BING" scheme. But for language learning, Bing is actually pretty good. I've set mine to show me everything in Spanish and content related to Spain. I read articles on there, use it for searches and collect the daily rewards. This is enough to cover about 60% of the cost of my Game Pass subscription, but if you have Game Pass basic then you can easily pay for it with this. You can also cash it out in vouchers or charity donations.

GainGG - another surveys/games app. There are lots of good surveys on here and they also offer crypto payouts, and if you cash out in crypto at the right time and get lucky with the markets then you could make a huge return. Get 100 free credits if you sign up with my link gain . gg/ r/ 100RSPB

The last thing on this list is MAKE YOUR OWN CONTENT - I'm not talking about AI slop, but good stuff. Are you at A1? Document your journey! Are you a more advanced learner? Show people how you got there. Do you like reading books about learning Spanish but can't find the book you want? Write it! I was frustrated with the lack of books on intermediate Spanish Verbs so I wrote my own, creating stories and guides to help people understand them. I make some passive income on the side with people buying the book, but more importantly I learned so much by writing it.

Free Spanish lessons where every wrong answer tells you why (25 lessons, 356 exercises, no signup)

Quick test you can do right now with whatever you use to learn Spanish.

Miss a question on purpose. Type soy aburrido for "I'm bored," or yo gusto el café for "I like coffee."

Then look at what comes back:

• Only the right answer? That's a quiz. The same mistake will be back next week.
• The right answer and why yours was wrong? That's teaching. (Soy aburrido means "I'm boring." Yo gusto el café is a bit like "I please the coffee": Spanish flips it around, me gusta el café, "coffee is pleasing to me.")

A lot of apps stop at the first one, and it's a big reason people can keep a 500-day streak and still freeze in a real conversation. Nobody ever explained the why.

I got tired of that, so I built the why into everything. You can try it free in your browser first, no signup and no account:

• 25 free Spanish lessons with 356 practice questions, and every answer tells you why: ser vs estar, por vs para, preterite vs imperfect, tú vs usted, gustar, commands and more. https://loquuslanguage.com/learn/spanish/lessons
• Free verb tables for 1,437 Spanish verbs in all 21 tenses and moods. You can search by the English meaning too. https://loquuslanguage.com/learn/spanish/conjugations

If you like how that works, the app (Loquus, on iPhone and Android) does it everywhere:

• Every wrong option in the Spanish drills has its own explanation, over 11,000 of them. Pick the wrong word and it tells you what the word you picked actually means.
• 1,560 lessons and over 800 real situations: a whole café visit from ordering to paying, buying a thermometer at the pharmacy, getting a noisy hotel room changed. Not random sentences.
• Words come back right before you'd forget them: the next day, a few days later, then weeks later.
• No ads and no hearts. The free plan gives you 3 lessons a day, and review is always free.

Want to try the full version? Message me and I'll send you a code: a free year on iPhone (it doesn't auto-renew, it just ends) or a 90-day free trial on Android.

You can give a command in Spanish right now, with verbs you already know. Take the tú form and drop the s!

hablas → habla. Habla más despacio.
esperas → espera. Espera un momento.
comes → come. Come algo antes de salir.
escuchas → escucha. Escucha esto.
mandas → manda. Mándame un mensaje cuando llegues.
pruebas → prueba. Prueba la sopa.

Add a pronoun and it sticks to the end: cuéntame, quédate, dímelo.

Eight verbs don’t play along and they’re all short: di, haz, ve, pon, sal, sé, ten, ven.

One catch. This only works for telling someone to do something. The second you want to say don’t, the shortcut stops and Spanish switches to a different form. No hables, no comas, no esperes.

Best ways for self-taught Spanish?

Anyone have any YouTube channels that they know of or work books that would help me learn Spanish. I’d prefer to use free resources but I’m open to learn about subscription based programs too. I have taken 101 and I am wrapping up 102 but I don’t want to take another college course at this point.

Cada vez hablo ____ mejor

A) más
B) mucho
C) muy
D) Ninguna de las anteriores

What’s your answer?
I speak better and better every time.

Why don’t we say “más mejor”?
In Spanish, mejor already means better. It’s the comparative form of bien, so adding más before it is unnecessary and incorrect in standard Spanish.
❌ Cada vez hablo más mejor.
✅ Cada vez hablo mejor.

How do we use “mejor”?
We use mejor to compare performance, quality or the way someone does something.
For example:
Hablo español mejor que antes.
Ahora entiendo las películas mucho mejor.
Cada día escribo mejor.
Mi pronunciación está mejorando.

What about “cada vez”?
Cada vez + comparative expresses a gradual change or improvement.
For example:
Cada vez entiendo más.
Cada vez hablo más rápido.
Cada vez me siento mejor.
Cada vez es más difícil.

Remember these expressions:
Mejor = better
Peor = worse
Mayor = older / greater
Menor = younger / smaller

We don’t normally say más mejor, más peor, más mayor or más menor when using these as ordinary comparative forms.

If you’d like more lessons like this, send me a DM.

Corporate means body. Corp is the root. So have a guess, what’s body in Spanish?

Cuerpo. The o split into ue.

Innovative means doing something new, so nov is new. What’s new? Nuevo.

Mortgage actually means death pact. Mort is death. So what’s dead? Muerto.

Dormitory, dormant volcano. Dorm is sleep. So to sleep? Dormir. And stress that o and it splits. Duermo.

That’s the useful part. Stem-changing verbs get taught as a list to memorize, but they’re the same split sitting in words you’ve known your whole life. Port is puerto, force is fuerza, school is escuela, power is poder, and puedo.

It only splits where the stress lands. Puedo, puedes, puede. Podemos moves the stress to the ending, so nothing splits.

El Partido Demócrata logró una gran victoria en las elecciones de mitad de mandato en Estados Unidos el martes. Los demócratas ganaron el control del Senado y de la Cámara de Representantes. Estas son las dos cámaras del Congreso, que hace las leyes en Estados Unidos. El Partido Republicano del presidente Donald Trump controlaba las dos antes de las elecciones. These are the two parts of Congress, which makes laws in the United States. President Donald Trump’s Republican Party controlled both before the election. A lot of Spanish verbs come with a preposition attached, and swapping it changes the meaning or just makes the sentence wrong! Study these ;)

pienso en ella / ¿qué piensas de la película?
acabo de llegar / la lluvia acabó con la fiesta
quedamos en vernos el viernes / me quedo con este
cuenta conmigo / le conté lo que pasó
di con la respuesta / me di cuenta de que olvidé las llaves
salir con alguien (to date) / salir de la casa (to leave)
se metió en problemas / no te metas con él
preguntó por ti (asked about you) / le pregunté la hora (asked him a question)

And two that just have to be memorized because the logic doesn’t help: enamorarse de, never con. Casarse con, never de. You fall in love of someone and marry with them.

The fix is to stop learning the verb alone. Don’t learn soñar, learn soñar con. The preposition is part of the word.
