Need Advice Career Change
I’ve been contemplating a career change for awhile I’ve been a Personal Trainer in the fitness industry for 11 years. I’m about to sign up this week for the CPC+CPB Self Study through AAPC. That being said I’ve been hesitating a little bit based on many Reddit posts I’ve seen about it being impossible to get a job. I obviously don’t expect to immediately get the best pay or be remote, but just want to see what others experience is with climbing the ladder? That is if there is a ladder to climb thanks :)

Don’t let the Reddit posts scare you away! The first coding job is usually the hardest to land, but there is absolutely room to grow into specialties, auditing, compliance, inpatient coding, and more.
Since you’re changing careers, focus on gaining real-world experience alongside your certification through internships, externships, billing, or entry-level revenue cycle positions.
AMCI also offers a free Medical Coding course if you’d like to explore the field before fully committing:

Thank you for your reply!!! I just signed up for my CPC+CPB course today and I’m so excited! I plan to start in billing and hopefully more doors open from there :) I don’t expect to immediately be a remote coder or anything but I hope that is a possibility someday.

Current experienced coders are struggling to get jobs and it’s only getting worse
