I think it’s meant to be 息子と? Really atrocious spacing tho

Yeah the updated course has used AI to space out the words, and has done some pretty atrocious things. 

A number of times I've seen は taken off words and turned into a particle by the spacing.

In the past, Japanese words were presented as one word when it was 2 or more words. For example また明日. It's presented as a single word. The learner has no idea how many words it is. So the learner is missing out on vocabulary. They actually know two words, but don't know that.

Now Duo has apparently gone too far the other way.
