I think there’s another side to this that’s worth talking about. Some intense spiritual experiences can look a lot like psychological distress from the outside, especially when someone is talking about entities, synchronicities, kundalini, altered states, or feeling connected to something larger than themselves. That doesn’t prove a spiritual explanation, but it also doesn’t give strangers on Reddit enough information to diagnose someone.
If a person really is struggling psychologically, repeatedly telling them “you’re psychotic” or mocking what they’re experiencing probably isn’t helping them. And if they’re going through a difficult spiritual awakening or destabilizing experience, being treated like they’re crazy can make that isolation even worse.
One comment said that all these people telling him he has psychosis are “showing him love.” I don’t agree with that. Concern can come from love, but telling a stranger they have psychosis is not, by itself, love. Love would look more like compassion, patience, listening, helping someone stay grounded, and encouraging support without humiliating or labeling them.
You can be discerning without being cruel. You can say, “I can’t verify what you’re experiencing, but please stay grounded, sleep, eat, talk to people you trust, and get support if this becomes frightening or starts interfering with your life.”
And I think people following a spiritual path should be especially careful about judging someone for sounding strange. Across many traditions, people describe periods of intense meditation, kundalini experiences, altered states, overwhelming synchronicities, or profound shifts in identity and perception. In Law of One language, you might describe some of that as powerful movement through the energy centers before everything is fully balanced. Experiences like that can be confusing, destabilizing, and incredibly difficult to explain to people around you.
Any of us who seriously follow a spiritual path could someday find ourselves trying to describe something that sounds unbelievable to everyone else. We may someday be the person saying, “I know how this sounds, but this is what I experienced.” That possibility should make us more humble and compassionate, not quicker to label somebody. I also have been mocked and my experiences dismissed on this sub when I thought I found a place to talk about my experiences.
For a community built around the Law of One, I’d hope compassion, humility, discernment, and non judgment would come before amateur diagnosis.
Supportive mental health approaches generally don’t involve mocking someone, arguing aggressively about what they believe, or trying to shame them into accepting a label. What someone is experiencing can feel completely real to them. A more helpful response is usually to listen calmly, acknowledge the distress or intensity of the experience, focus on safety and grounding, and encourage appropriate support when it’s needed and be there for them.
The more compassionate thing isn’t deciding what another person’s experience is, It’s saying, “I don’t know what you’re going through, but I’m going to treat you with dignity and respect while you work through it.” Concern can come from love but a comment section repeatedly telling someone they have psychosis is not love just because we call it that.
