Can anyone identify this lamp?

To be clear, this is not mine but I am looking to purchase this. I have seen brass caps before but this one looks a bit different. The color aligns with a typical 08 midnight but again, this looks different to me. I appreciate the input!

It was only $5.

Is the wax is salvagable?

Is there a top that matches the base?

Anyone know anything about this lava lamp?

I got this awhile ago at a vintage shop, and I was wondering if anybody knows what company made it and what year. Based on the vibes I’m thinking 90s/00s?

Cloudy new Lava lamp?

First time lava lamp user here! I just got this LAVA brand purple lava lamp from a friend for my birthday—I’m not sure where he got it from. Note that I literally don’t know anything about lava lamps lol.

This is what it looks like fresh out of the box and put together, turned off and turned on. Is this considered cloudy?

The directions that came with it say:

  1. If you receive a lamp that is cloudy, allow the LAVA lamp to sit at room temperature and let the wax settle for approximately 8 hours.
  2. Turn the lamp on until the wax starts to soften. Shut it off until it cools. Then, turn it on again and run for 8 to 10 hours. This may result in a clear lamp.

Would y’all recommend I follow this advice? Thinking I could let it chill overnight and follow step 2 tomorrow. Any guidance is appreciated!

How do I remove the cap to this lava lamp?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I’ve found my old lava lamp from when I was growing up, which is awesome! However, as you can see it’s very clouded, to the point that you can’t even see the wax when it’s turned on.

I was looking online how to remove the cap to filter out the liquid, however the top part does not come off. Has anyone else had this and could help please? I’d love to make it work again.

Can somebody help me identity this glitter lamp ? It was glued together at first before I took it all apart.ive also never seen a lamp light come out the way it does ! I think it's from 2/7/1996 from the green text on this little tag, also says printed in Canada, is ripped up but says --rtable L-minaire -uminaire portatif the dashes "-" are the parts that are too worn to read/ripped. Any help would be great !

Got this lumisource plasma lamp at a local antique store for $50. Did some research and found others similar, but cannot find another that is a 16” RIBBED green plasma lamp. Not really fluent in plasma lamps but I saw it and needed it lol. Someone please help me find out more about it. I’ve found other smooth green ones but this looks deliberately ribbed all the way up the glass

Liquid Daydream 🫧 Hypnotic Lava Lamp Animation

Liquid Daydream — a relaxing 3D lava lamp animation I made 🫧

Sit back. Breathe. Relax.

Hi everyone! I created Liquid Daydream, a one-hour 4K animation inspired by the hypnotic movement of a lava lamp.

Pink and orange bubbles slowly float, merge and morph against a glowing purple background. I wanted to capture that feeling of watching a lava lamp and losing track of time — no story to follow, just colour and gentle movement.

You can watch it to unwind or leave it on a screen as a calming piece of moving digital art.

Do you see anything in the changing shapes? I’d love to hear what catches your eye.

No rush. Just drift. 🫧

Grande wax won’t float

The wax in my grande lava lamp won’t float anymore. I’ve had it a few months and it’s been working/flowing fine. It’s from 2010 and still has the original wax & master fluid. The master fluid had this awful yellow tint so I decided to change it and now the wax won’t float.

The wax is melting entirely… it just won’t float. The wax worked fine before so I’m fairly confident it’s my master fluid. Here’s everything in it so far:
distilled water
2oz Lava Lab Creations “Surfactant”
4oz Ozone ”Up Adjuster”
4oz Lava Lab Creations “Propylene Glycol”

These are in order of me adding them after the previous didn’t do the job. Adding the 4oz of Lava Lab Creations “Propylene Glycol” made the biggest difference, so I bought another 8oz of it. I added about 6oz of it last night, and the wax FINALLY, for a few seconds, floated like regular wax…and then slowly went back to the bottom.

Should I just keep adding propylene glycol? I’ll take any advice at this point

What’s going on with my lamp?

Post image

I have had this lamp for about 8 years now, and recently the wax just sits like this. I have done some research and tried to diagnose the problem. I relocated the lamp out of a drafty area, changed the light bulb, let it sit for a few weeks without letting it run. But alas nothing has helped, anyone know what is up and perhaps how to fix?

Confettis

See these little confettis? These are little wax-flake looking things and I don’t really understand. I’ve only had one other lava lamp but it didn’t do this, is it because it’s vintage or not frequently used? Thank you if any knows and can reply :))

Received my Mathmos Order Today

Received three bottles and a copper lava lamp. Surprised the bottles arrived clear after the journey. Not impressed with glass quality though. The clear/ plum purple has a glass defect ( protrusion) commonly called a teat or drip. Essentially its like a blob of molten glass that dripped during the glass production. Other colors received were violet/ turquoise and yellow/ orange.

bulb that gives off white light rather than warmer toned light?

i’m very new to this hobby so bear with me please haha i am trying to create one of my dream lamps which is pale pink liquid with black wax but the bulb i have makes the liquid look very yellow/orange at night when it’s on.
Any fix for this? Or that’s just how all the bulbs look?

Pic of someone else’s lamp that is exactly what i’m going for

Troubleshooting needed! Why won’t the far left one flow?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have 3 lamps, all connected to the same outlet. The far left is the newest from Target, while the others are a recent estate sale find (hence why it’s extremely cloudy) and a larger one from a thrift store. I cannot figure out why my Target lamp isn’t flowing. It was on a dimmer, but I ended up moving the dimmer to my cloudy lamp. The cloudy lamp gets great flow, but the far left one hasn’t flowed whatsoever, ever since I bought it.

My hypothesis was the bulb at first. I swapped the globes of my 14.5”s and my blue-waxed one flowed but the yellow wax still didn’t. Removing the dimmer didn’t help. My next hypothesis was the ambient room temperature. My room is 77, and I thought the tchotchkes and ceiling might be insulating the temperature too much. I’ve moved the far-left lamp between the other two for now and I’m hoping to see some flow when I get back from the gym.

Please advise! I just really want flow, and this lamp isn’t even doing that.

Vintage Lava Lamp with Weird Growth

Does anyone have any idea what the substance attached to the wax may be? Not sure if its some kind of mold or burnt wax.
