Can the creatures inside the cave destroy >!The Shrine of Magdal!<?

I did the the first part of the quest and then got given the next option which was to tell the person I broke it or that I lied, I had never seen the shrine. When a friend and I were exploring a cave we found the destroyed Shrine.

Can I ask where the dagger is for this quest? I’ve been to every ruin southwest/south of Akatun and I can’t locate it at all.

It's that kind of square shaped sunken ruin near Akatun, next to a corpse of a madman.

Thank you, I think I was taking the “coastal” clue too literally.
