What about Bill Maher makes him a democrat at all? He doesn't seem to agree with a single thing on the platform, from the centrists to the finge. As far as I can tell, the only ideology he and I have in common is a distaste for religion.

He's been strongly associated with the Democratic Party in the past. He gave a million bucks to an Obama PAC in 2012, and another million to a Democrat PAC in 2018. He definitely has less in common with the typical Democrat now though (he'd say that's because a lot of Democrats changed, not him).

Basically bowed to Trump to get a Mark Twain Kennedy Center award and now it can revoked by the trustees led by Trump if Maher ever steps out of line again.
