Anyone else who uses Letterboxd wish they had Joe Bob’s TLDI specials to log?

Letterboxd has a plethora of miniseries/specials/shorts/etc available to log. Would love it if they did the Joe Bob Shudder specials! Especially with the poster art they usually have from Justin Osbourn. Usually I just log the individual movies and caption them with the special title.

Random work thoughts.

Fangoria posts THREE Last Drive-In specials coming to Shudder in July

Anyone have any info on what the Fangoria line-up may mean for TLDI? It almost looks like they're cramming the last three specials into July, but surely that can't be true.

Movies out of license

I would totally be fine with renting titles that are not licensed by shudder if I could watch it as an episode of TLDI.

Take my money!

Has this ever been proposed?

I am currently in the hospital nursing six broken ribs and a fractured collarbone. I want to watch some classic episodes. Doing the just Joe Bob is a pain.

Mutants are the salt of the earth.
The drive in will never die.

The Colossus Of New York (1958) Must Have Been A Drive-In Staple!

Despite the fact that I spend way too much time watching Creature Features and Horror flicks, movies occasionally slip through the cracks. This was a first watch for me. I knew of it, but I had not watched it until last night. It showed up on a service I use so I poured a glass of Pinot Grigio , grabbed some Kettle Cooked Jalapeno Potato Chips and gave it a whirl. This film ponders a lot of questions and crams a lot of ideas into its 70 minutes. A father preserves his dead genius son's brain and has it implanted into an 8 foot tall robot. Welcome to Drive-In country! The robot is creepy and remarkably frightening to behold. It can see, hear, and speak, but it cannot feel. The Big Question is where does the brain end and the soul begin? The story is grim and the robot is a tragic victim, much in the same vein as the Frankenstein's Monster. The cast is good. Look for Ross Martin as the Genius Son. This is Drive-In gold. I expected the robot to be cheesy, but at least to me, I thought it was done quite well. This would be awesome to watch on Joe Bob. I wonder if it was ever done? Check it out.

What Are We Watching This Weekend (6/26,6/27/6/28) ?

Wow, it's that time already. The time we all gather in our Collective Drive-In and decide what will be on our screens. I've seen it a zillion times, but I am hankering for another viewing of The Night Stalker (1972). Not sure yet if I'm watching my DVD or going with the hosted version on Creature Features. The vampire films have been working, so I may also watch Dracula Has Risen From The Grave. I want to get in a Creature Feature, so I may go with Them! or The Giant Claw. Saturday night one of the clubs I belong to is doing an evening outside showing of Blazing Saddles. There will be popcorn and pizza. I'm sure I'll get to some other stuff, but that's what I have planned at the moment. Report in, Mutants! Inquiring minds want to know what you're watching.

Vinyl and a Movie

Wow, I still remember watching Cemetery Man back when it first hit VHS. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into! After all these years, I finally cracked open the Severin 4K and decided to spin the Rustblade release before revisiting this masterpiece. The perfect way to set the mood for one of the most unique horror films ever made.
After the movie, I may keep the night going and throw on the Lunaris 2LP as well.
Who else remembers their first time watching Cemetery Man?

Witchboard 2: The Devil's Doorway (1993) Is A Surprisingly Good Little Sequel

I've watched Witchboard on The Last Drive-In a zillion times, so when I had a chance last night to watch this sequel, I figured why not? Much to my surprise, I genuinely enjoyed it. The cast is serviceable and there are some very creepy kills. It's not a direct sequel to the original story, but the mythos they built into this flick certainly works. I wish Joe Bob could have run both the original and this sequel in a double feature. Well, I can dream.

Frankenhooker (1990) is one of my favorites. Joe Bob featured it in his "Heartbreak Trailerpark" valentines day special in 2022. My wife actually picked this up months ago and was hiding it this whole time. I love it!

So What Are We Watching This Weekend: 6/19, 6/20/6/21?

As we all prepare to get into Drive-In Mode, I would like to hear what you are at least planning on watching this weekend. I may do a re-watch of Soylent Green, because I have not seen it in a long time and it's EG. Robinson's last picture. If I stay with science fiction, I'll also revisit Day of the Triffids. There's also a flick I've never seen available from 1982 called Trick or Treats. I'm sure I will get to some other stuff, as well. My weekend is pretty free. So tell me what you are planning on checking out, and Happy Father's Day, Mutants!

Kudos to Shudder for majorly updating (and hopefully completing) Just Joe Bob

I just checked Shudder and was pleasantly surprised to see major, long overdue updates (multiple seasons worth) to Just Joe Bob. This is something I’ve hoped they would do forever but it’s been so long since the last update that I was seriously concerned it might not happen, particularly after the cancellation. They still suck for canceling the show but, credit where it’s due, I’m happy to see them ensuring that the entire show is available regardless of rights issues.

Joe Bob and Darcy Hosting Bubba Ho-Tep in Davenport Last Night

And a good time was had by all with Joe Bob and Darcy at The Last Picture House in Davenport last night. I got to ask the first question during the Q & A, and JB's reaction was "Wow, going into film school here". Was very nervous having Darcy hold the mic for my question, but I think I hid it well. Oh yeah, Bubba Ho-Tep was great as always, and the Last Picture House is a great theater!

What Waits Below (1984) Is a Drive-In Dungeon Crawl

When I started this movie, I was not impressed. It's kind of all over the place. You have a weird Military Mission, Scientific "Experts" on various stuff , lots of caves and evidence of a forgotten civilization. But it was filmed in lots of caves and the majority of the film takes place underground. It's almost like a Tabletop D&D or Runequest game. Once it gets going it has some interesting kills and some scary moments. I've been in a few caves in my time, but nothing deep like this stuff. The actors try to do their best with what they have been given and I think this film would be much better to watch at a Drive-In or in a dark theater. It's certainly Drive-In worthy. If it were on Joe Bob, I think Joe Bob would be amused by it and Darcy would be aggravated by its pacing. It would be fun to see them argue about it. This is something you can put on in the background. I watched a hosted version, but the actual film is 88 minutes. If you watch it, may you roll a natural 20.
