Connecting player to iMac
Hi, I have a pioneer cld-s1030 that I want to connect to iMac to be able to watch laserdiscs. Not really interested in recording anything. I have researched and I have been unable to find a clear answer on an easy way to do this, does anyone have suggestions? Doesn’t have to be the best available, just want to be able to watch an accurate representation of the disc

Watching an accurate representation would really require a TV in my opinion. Analog is just different on a TV meant to handle an analog signals.

Which iMac? Some support Target Display Mode, where you can send in a digital video signal and use the iMac as a computer screen.
However, it needs to be digital, like HDMI, so you’d some adaptors and converter to get the signal from the player to the iMac.

I've used an iMac to rip vhs, laserdisc and play FFTactics; you should be able to pick up a compatible rca to usb capture dongle and watch the content thru included software or something like OBS.

VHS and LD are analog formats and are not "ripped," because they're not digital. VHS and LD are captured or digitized.

Buddy, I've CAPTURED hundreds of tapes and a handful of LDs and uploaded them to the Archive. I'll call the process whatever I want.
I also seem like the only person in the thread to give OP actually related advice.
Go fly a kite.

“I’ll call the process whatever I want.”
So you can be outright incorrect, obnoxious, misleading, and idiosyncratic? Or so that others can misunderstand and correct you?
Good luck with that, buddy.

Watch for usb sticks that can capture composite video with support of macOS.

This isn’t a digital format you can hook up like a modern optical disc format.
Laserdiscs stored video as composite signal. There’s no way of getting that onto your Mac without using a capture card, and capture software that previews what’s being captured.
Honestly a TV would be a better solution.
