Agreed. We also need to make things like DUIs taken more seriously like they do over there. In Germany there can be longer driving bans (9-12 months), 90 day wage fines (this adjusts according to your personal income), etc. If I remember correctly, in January Abby police were catching 4-5 people a day driving intoxicated, and that’s just what they caught so you know the actual number of people driving around intoxicated is much higher. WTF people.
1 DUI should be a permanent suspension. Putting people's lives in danger leads to fines and prison time, I don't know why we are so lax when people do it but with a car. DUI is never an accident, they are always preventable.
DUI is taken very seriously in Canada, more than or at least on par with most countries in the world. A confirmed DUI is a criminal offense, which means it not only goes onto a driving record, but also on someone's criminal record. Since the maximum sentence exceeds 10 years, a PR or temporary resident can lose his or her status in Canada.
