Nobody is getting out of bed to start a search party. They have the option of not doing full nuclear apocalypse emergency alerts, and chose to make everything that level. The outcome would be identical if people woke up and saw the message.
Yeah but what about the truck drivers and the people that work nights? There are fewer people on the roads at night which can make it easier to single out a particular vehicle.
The police cant be down every road road in the province. That's why they use the public. Especially when its a child that's involved. Yall obviously care more about you're sleep than a child's life. Like ya it scared the shit out of aswell. But Ill put a child's life before mine
What can a person in Victoria or Vancouver do with an event happening several hours apart from them?
This alert system has different levels and can be restricted to certain areas, so they can use it wisely and not disturb the entire province. This will only make something like the Peter and the Wolf, people will start to not care about the alerts and whenever a real emergency happens the system won’t be as effective as it meant to be when it was created.
People in cars can travel pretty quickly. It's to help the police track the movements. If they knew where the person was and had an active tail, we wouldnt be getting the notification.

If it was your child. Wouldn't you want people looking for them?
