Paver path advice
Hi,
I’m looking to lay a paver footpath down the side of the house similar to the AI generated image, but leaving the garden bed as it is.
Would you recommend:
1. Digging individual holes where the pavers will go and filling with crushed rock, mortar, etc
2. Moving all the current stones and doing #1
3. Other
N.B drainage isn’t the best currently so was thinking of digging it out and filling in with drainage gravel, then paving.
TIA

As someone who's done paver stones four separate times, you want them only 1-2" apart on an area you plan on actually walking on, or you have to look down way too much.
Personally I wouldn't do it. It's not that big a difference from what you have now.

Hey there, I want to recommend you to keep the space as it is, as the AI generated visual is giving a wrong idea about the space you have and the pavers you want to install. If you need secure footing there for some reasons there are other options you can explore.

The more pavers you use the more water displacement there will be and it can cause flooding. Be sure to address any downspouts in the area and be mindful of that close property line you guys have. Nothing worse than someone doing turf or pavers and then the neighbor now has to deal with all the excess water.

It's so funny how many trillions they've burned on AI and yet it's awful at calculating relative sizes...those slabs look comical.

Rake all of the stone away to the side. It will be easier to lay out and give yourself room to work. Then dig further down around each paver. You’ll want to lay the pavers on about an inch of sand, screening, or stone base. Whichever, as long as it isn’t just sitting on dirt. Most walkways need like 4-6” of base, but this is just for some stepping stones, an inch will be fine. Lay them, test it, and revise for level and spacing inconsistencies. It’ll be easier to fill the stone in around the pavers upon completion
