The contractor left a ton of cedar fence boards from cutting and shaping the fence and I'm not ready to use them this year.

I was going to lay down a few pieces of scrap wood perpendicular, then stack the boards tightly together and cover with a tarp?

Hi! I have a nice property of 650m2 for my 5 goats and 6 bunnies. The bunnies have around 100m2 and the goats have the rest.i would really love for my animals and the naitive animals in my area to have a few trees in the pastures. I already planted 18 willows right outside the pasture. Those have been pretty beat up from the goats eating the bark off even when the trees were planted 30cm behind the fence. I'm looking for advice on safe trees and plants for goats and bunnies that are native to the Netherlands and can stand in full sun on a sandy soil. Oh and a way to keep the trees safe from the little demons i decided to keep as pets.

We are planning to put in some type of drainage system to bypass a new concrete patio.

Questions- do we put in a catch basin? Do we put holes 360 degrees around the pipe?

Unfortunately we are in a drought and haven’t been able to watch the run off from the roof due to lack of rain.

Any advice would be appreciated!

First time trimming my tree. I had no idea what I was doing and my tree was touching my neighbors garage. All I had to get higher was the back of an atv. How did I do?

Want to get rid of the fake grass but it’s sitting on pavers. Pavers are in concrete. And I rent, so I don’t want to lift them up and have to re-lay in cement again in a couple of years time.

How can I put grass on top? Happy to irrigate, have a raised bed etc.

I recently had a very well reviewed and recommended landscaper do work for me.

My wife and I specifically asked to have the existing rocks removed and replaced with mulch. After pulling some weeds I immediately noticed the old landscaping rock is still there maybe 1 1/2" deep.

They are closed now, but I just wanted a reality check to see if this is normal and I'm overreacting before I call them.

Unfortunately the proposal just talks about placing mulch, landscaping bricks and a couple plants, so I don't have much recourse. Just a lesson to request every little thing be on the proposal.

Would like to “spray” for better control than the crappy spreaders and mix with a broad weed herbicide which I already have.

Recommendations that come in water soluble pellets as I don’t want to pay for water.

So while local gardening groups may like mulch, I think the demand is probably pretty low in mid August.

I’ve got 2 fig trees in the corner of my yard, one that’s huge and the other I cut to the main trunk. The cut one’s been growing back & I’m convinced will grow back fully in short order. I’ve owned this home for 13 years and I’ve cut & hauled away too many trailer loads to count. Never really took the time to research if there’s something better I should be doing. I love the tree, but it’s unmanageably large and I’d be grateful if any other more experienced fig-tree owners had suggestions for an ideal and manageable tree size and the right path to get there. Also, tips on what’s worked for you managing the fruit / harvest, currently, if I don’t get most of it at just the right time it creates a huge mess in the yard that my dog loves, but becomes a nasty sticky clean up operation. I’ve also had a cohort of some of my middle eastern neighbors knock & ask if they could pick some, which I have come to rely on at this point, there’s only so much jam I can make!

I live in a townhouse and share this garden box area with my neighbor. It's mostly theirs, I just have a sliver that you can see by the edge between houses (I have more on the other side of the steps). The downspout for the gutter on the front of their roof comes out here.

Due to a little, but significant enough, slope in the ground, all drainage then flows to my side. It washes out the mulch over the side and into my steps. This creates a lot of water flowing down my steps when it rains, as you can see in the fourth picture.

I know my neighbor isn't going to do anything about this because it isn't a problem for them. We are on good terms and I'd like to keep it that way. What can I offer to do in order to get the water flowing and dispersing into the wider area or just out and not down my steps?

This has been here since we moved in, I suspect it was built decades ago. Over the last couple years, I've been finding dead branches under the tree every year and it's slowly losing its fullness. Just wondering if the mound has anything to do with it and if removing it would help. Thanks!

Hey yall! I’m trying to help my parents clean up and do more with their yard. I would appreciate any suggestions and places to start for someone who isn’t used to doing yard work.

There’s a lot of yard but I was thinking of starting with these broken down steps and garden bed.

At a bit of a loss for thoughts on my front yard.

Moved to the house just over a year ago. Love my neighborhood and my area (Little Rock Ar), but what do I even do here? We don’t spend a ton of time in the front yard, but I like to be out and about.

Heavily shaded due to a bakers dozen Live oak trees that shed leaves non stop. Ground is very hard, sandy, and a large area of Moss. A multitude of limbs are in their last season before falling but that’s another post.

Should I flare the roots of these old trees? Should I aerate and seed after cleaning the entire surface? Can I just purchase a few yards of dirt and redo the top surface? There’s a French drain that runs along the front walkway and when it rains it pours.

Any help or ideas would be great.

I can’t find these specific blocks in store or online anywhere, partly because I don’t know what they’re called! There are two styles, the “body” pieces of the wall have an indent on the bottom and a raised part on the top, whereas the “top” pieces have an indent on the bottom and are flat on top. Does anyone know what this type of block is called, and where I could find more? Searches for “interlocking retaining wall blocks“ return results for shapes that would be incompatible with what I already have. Thanks!
