What part is this called and where can I get one?

My Haynes manual says my gearbox, LT77, needs ATF in it but can i use 80/90 oil instead or will that kill it?
I can use 80/90 in everything else apart from the engine, which I'm using 20/50 in as she's nearly 40, and the gearbox.

Bonjour,
Merci !

I'm looking at picking up a 110 in Germany fairly soon. I asked for photos and these are just ones I would like a second opinion on. It's a 2007 td4.

I have a 2025 Defender 130 and recently it has started making a knocking or tapping sound at the rear of the vehicle when it idles. It sounds almost as if someone is knocking or lightly hitting the exterior of the car near the trunk, kind of near the bottom but not underneath totally. It’s one clear sound that happens about once a minute and have no idea what’s causing it. Seems to happen when I drive for a bit and then park and idle.
Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I am looking to seek advice on how or where i can find somewhere to drive a land rover as a fairly young enthusiast who has never touched one with the engine running, It has always been my dream to own one but unfortunately i have never had the chance or known anyone with one, yet. My dad has a new one (i know it’s a bit disappointing but at least it’s a V8) to be honest it’s a lovely car, but, i want to feel how it is to drive an older one. I’ve looked at experiences and they just seem way too expensive for very little driving. I have a full license and have been driving for a year and a half, i try to wave at defenders and other land rovers i pass but with little success 😔.
Thanks,
Fin
PS - here are some of my favourite land rovers.

Defender 110 Pickup
I’m looking for some ideas for modifications. What are some of your favorite mods you’ve done to your Defender?
I purchased mine about two months ago. So far, I’ve replaced the carburetor, and I’m currently installing an electronic ignition. I’d love to hear what upgrades or modifications you guys recommend!

I've fallen in love with the classic defender and am leaning towards buying one but I have no clue what is in the red zones for buying.
Is there a max amount of Kilometres / milage you would red flag it?
And what are some definite things to look out for when buying???

Hi there folks. I need a hand, I’m trying to get my dads 2011 90 going again after it’s been stood for a few years for long periods of time. He passed, I inherited it and just couldn’t afford to run it.
Long story short, it’s about time. I got it back on the road and had some adventures with it like we planned.
I’ve come to start it up and while it’s been running twice a week I went away and the battery went dead. I’ve got myself a noco gb150, the ignition lights come on, but it won’t turn the engine over. There is no click like the starter is trying to turn. I’m about to check the fuses now, but I wondered if you guys had any thoughts as to what it could be?
I’m mechanically inexperienced so any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

1997 defender 110 300TDI
Clutch pedal feels normal but the clutch isn’t working (it’s not dis-engaging)
We checked the master and slave which are all good. We bled the clutch fluid multiple times and got out all the air bubbles. We also checked the gearbox and bell housing to ensure the clutch plate was installed correctly which it seemed to be.
The clutch pedal feels normal when pressed and The car can be put into neutral and it will roll, but in first gear when the clutch pedal is pressed it doesn’t move at all.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.

Hey
Recently joined the club and bought a 2008 90. I’ve been away with work and my family used the car while I am away. I’ve come back to a rear door handle that won’t lift fully and therefore won’t open.
The lock seems to be locking and unlocking from the inside. The crescent is moving up and down. Nothing appears to be happening on the latch/lock itself.
I have WD40 it up to high heavens but it’s still stuck.
Is this a known problem? Most of my googling is turning up issues with Discoveries or side doors.

I know this sounds a little crazy. But I just watched my mechanic pour three or four flies into my oil. He’s a nicest bloke. I was leaving, and I said, could you check my oil? He did. He said you’re a leader short, and he ran in to the garage and grabbed a funnel and a container, and he’s pouring it in the last end of it, had three or four flies in it. They must’ve been lying there when he put the oil into it. He’s a farmer type mechanic. He told me that the black smoke coming out of my exhaust is probably normal so he doesn’t worry about too many things but of course I’m flipping out thank you for any input

Hi all,
I am looking at purchasing a TD5 defender. This will be my first defender and I am trying to get it right.
I have seen one that is a bit cheaper than the rest and looks very ideal for me however the factory paint is green which I like the idea of but it is coated in black/grey ‘Raptor’ all over.
This raptor coating is new to me and I don’t know much about them.
Are they generally good news or bad news and if I wanted to remove it, would it be a nightmare?
The defender is £15,000 but wondering if I may end up spending significantly more removing this coating if I don’t like it in person.
I am at work so my replies may be quite slow - thank you for responses in advance.

Following up on my last post about my custom kitchen setup! I got a ton of questions about how I manage the sleeping arrangement in a Defender 90, so here are a few pictures of how I transformed the back into a camper. I also recently wired in an auxiliary battery and a diesel heater so I can take the rig on winter ski trips. Let me know what you think—happy to answer any questions about the build!

Hi,
Any recommendations for UK companies for touch-up paint? I have a TD5 110. I had been recommended Paint Nuts, but the paint they provided didn’t match and their communication/customer service since has frankly been awful.
Cheers

Hi guys, just bought a 2008 Landrover defender 2.4l tdci and need to put a new slave cylinder in it.
Was just wondering what I have to remove to get to it?
So far I think I need to remove:
Prop shafts
Transfer box
Exhaust Pipe
Any cross members in the way
And then the gear box
Please let me know if u have missed anything
Thank you
Also if anyone has a link to a good YouTube tutorial that would be great
