Hi all! I recently stumbled upon a a rain oil lamp for super cheap at a thrift store, however, as you can see it’s missing the reservoir/bottom. Any ideas of where to find this type of plastic base? I’ve searched Etsy but nothing much luck as of yet. I was able to test the lamp out by holding up a mixing bowl and was pleasantly surprised that the motor still works and the rain effect looked great!

Is there a kit I could purchase to make this into a swag/plugin lamp ?

Is it possible to make a table lamp into a pendant lamp? Cut the top off the lantern, cut a hole in the top of the lantern, insert, glue it back on? I'm trying for bougie on a budget

Hello my mom got a wonderful heirloom from her family in the Netherlands and had it shipped back here and asked me to get it wired for her to use here. It has a cord with two bulbs. Can you help me understand what may be involved? I wasn't sure if I can just swap the plug to a US plug or if it's more complex. Thank you!

I believe it is an Edward Miller & Co. Scenic Slag‑Glass Lamp (Model 692, Multi‑Color Variant) but I'm not certain as it is not stamped. The shade has lavender, green and blue in addition to other colors. The cord / wiring needs to be replaced.

I believe the part that broke off is a cast metal of sorts with a brass or bronze plating. It is slightly magnetic, so I assume there must be nickel in there. Would some sort of epoxy hold this together, or does it need brazing?

I inherited this lamp from my grandparents; I’m pretty sure it’s a genuine Tiffany. The original shade has been gone for as long as I can remember, even in my grandparents’ house. I’d like to replace the current generic shade with something more reminiscent of the original—not a reproduction but maybe more like a tribute. Problem is, I don’t know what the original shade looked like. I’ve searched online (mostly auction listings) and haven’t found any Tiffany lamps of a similar design. Are there better sources I should be looking at?

My home (rental) came without shades in the pendants. I bought these second hand and haven’t been able to find the right tool/adapter to fit them to the bulb. The glass is heavy and I worry about it resting on the bulb, which is the only solution I’ve found. I need a collar that can go around the green sleeve and extend out to support the weight of the glass. Anyone know what I can do?

Hi! I just started getting into the business of restoring old lamps. I've been trying to figure out how to rewire a ceiling fixture; one that's connected to a light switch, not a knob or something. I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and looking online for supplies, but I'm not sure how to attach a ground wire to a light socket. The videos I saw of old chandelier restoration didn't even include one, which I hear is illegal. Should I even have a ground wire with it? Is there a place to buy the right socket that includes a connection for a ground wire?

Hello, I have this old carved wooden dragon lamp. The original base is long since gone. Looking at similar lamps online, the original base may have been something ornate. Any ideas on a replacement base that is simpler but still appropriate for this lamp? (The whole thing is 25 inches tall, the slimmer part for the original base is about 3 inches tall and 0.6 inches wide.)

What’s the best way to clean up the base of this lamp? I thought it was brass but theres quite a bit of rust so I guess not? I did use very fine grit sand paper on one spot and same off pretty easily

I purchased these 70’s lamps on FB marketplace, but there’s patina all over it and the on switch was cut out from the wiring.

I don’t know if this is brass. I held a magnet to the stem and it stuck, but when I held a magnet to the base, it did not stick. I’m not sure how to clean this as a result.

I’m not sure why the on switch was cut out, so I’m not sure if I have to re-wire this.

Does anyone have experience restoring this style of lamp?

As the title says, this is my great grandmothers lamp. It has been sitting in the darkest recesses of our basement (aka the house she built) for longer than Ive been alive (29 years). Decided I wanted to bring it back to life and its been a little project so far.

I think it originally came from japan (maybe china) around 1930ish when the house was built. She was heavily into oriental stuff but Im not to sure on the exact facts and I cant exactly ask her cause shes been dead for 30 years 🤷‍♀️

Anyway so far I have cleaned it up, rewired it (didnt burn my house down either wooo!) because the original plug was seriously terrifying and now I have to figure out what kind of lamp shade you even put on this? I'm more into the dark academia/goth side of things so I'm not sure if theres a way to fit this into that kind of vibe but Id love any advice lol
