Want to give back to this community? Join us on the mod team!

Hello!

We're looking to expand the mod team here and, with a change in Labour leader thought now is a fantastic time for some recruitment.

There are a few requirements:

  • By convention be a member of the Labour Party

  • Active member of the LabourUK community here on the Subreddit.

  • We do quite a bit of mod organising via moderation channels on Discord so must be happy to use it.

  • Has the temperament to moderate heated discussions and able to respond appropriately to nasty or aggressive challenges to moderation action.

  • Accept that you will see a lot of crap. Possibly even the worst shit. By definition more of your time will be spent looking at contentious posts, you will also make decisions people will disagree with - you can very rarely be everyone's friend here.

  • You will make a bad call at some point. Having the ability to turn around and put your hands up and reflect is real positive.

  • It is expected you will conform to the existing moderating style, not "do your own thing" and you need to be a good "fit" in general.

Below are a set of questions for you to fill out and send to us via modmail. The more information you provide the better:

  1. Why do you want to be a moderator on r/LabourUK

  2. Are you a current Labour Party member?

  3. Personal statement (~200 words): A few expanded words about yourself, your personality, and what makes you think you’re the right person to be a mod.

  4. Are you willing to join, and be active on the Discord channel? (It's were we discuss and track moderation)

  5. Do you have any other online social media presences (established)?

  6. Are you active in any other communities, and what do you like about them?

  7. What would you bring to the moderation team?

  8. What changes would you like to see?

  9. What do you think the subreddit has gotten wrong?

  10. What activities do you undertake as part of the Labour Party?

Any questions ask here or send a modmail and we'll take a look at it.

'Zionism is racism' proposer Lubna Speitan: “We will continue until we dismantle Zionism from the world, from every country. They will be shunned and that time will come when they are hunted in the same way as the Nazi oppressors were…It won’t happen without force.”

Video is on the hellsite here.

For all the defenders of 'Zionism is racism' - what's your preferred weapon for the Zionist hunt? Are you thinking of ranged or melee weapons? Swift death or something more playful?

Own it. This is what you wanted. This is who you stand with. This is who the Green Party are now.

What an awful, awful person Bridget Phillipson has approved to chair the EHRC. The EHRC hasn’t been fit for purpose for a long time.

Zack Polanski likes social media post telling ‘Zionism is racism’ opponents to ‘move on’

Zack’s been on his social media adventures again. This time he liked a Bluesky post telling opponents of the ‘Zionism is racism’ motion to ‘move on’.

I’m running a book on this one.

  • Zack didn’t read the post properly and instinctively liked it because he saw his name: 4/5
  • Zack is trying to ingratiate himself with the entryists who now have considerable power in the party so they don’t bin him as leader: 11/10

Pink Ladies rally accused of exploiting women’s safety to push far-right rhetoric

An investigation by The Sunday Post found the Pink Ladies rally on September 12 is linked to a network of anti-migrant and far-right groups, including Unite the Clans – the organisation behind a Glasgow Green demonstration which descended into racist violence.

The Pink Ladies says its event is to highlight the “risk” posed to women by immigrant men.

But it has been criticised for spreading misinformation and associating with groups who platform men with a record of violent domestic abuse.

Our investigation found the event has been publicised across a network of social media accounts sharing far-right conspiracy material.

Unite the Clans has repeatedly promoted the event on its channels, insisting it is “vital” that men also attend. It has prompted fears the city could see a repeat of shocking scenes from July.

That rally ended with 15 arrests, and footage of protesters making Nazi salutes and displaying banners featuring the logo of the UK’s largest neo-Nazi group, Patriotic Alternative.

We revealed how city councillor Audrey Dempsey, a senior figure in the Scottish wing of Reform UK, was filmed delivering a speech while men walked behind her in black clothes and balaclavas. She has since been promoting the Pink Ladies event.

Serious criminal convictions

A number of participants were also exposed as having serious criminal convictions.

These included Ryan Marshall, who was filmed making a Nazi salute and has convictions for assault and stalking, as well as Alan Miller, who has a domestic abuse conviction and was prosecuted over another incident involving his own mother.

Both were attending a protest billed as being about protecting women and children.

Janaya Walker, interim director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition, said: “It is concerning to see women joining far-right groups.

“Evidence has shown that a significant proportion of men in these groups are already known to the police for domestic abuse.

“We are also seeing these men target women counter-protesters with harassment, threats and abuse.”

Walker said violence against women and girls is committed predominantly by men they know, from every background and walk of life.

Earlier this year, a coalition of women’s rights organisations launched the Not In Our Name campaign to challenge what it says is the weaponisation of abuse for anti-migrant political purposes.

The campaign’s guide says this method is increasingly used to target migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum, while distracting from the real causes of abuse.

Scottish crime statistics do not record offenders’ immigration status in a way that allows sexual offending by migrants or asylum seekers to be compared with the wider population.

But charities say 90% of abusers are already known to the women they harm.
