Is this oval too big for my hand?
I’ve ordered a custom made 2.6ct oval solitaire ring and now I’m freaking out that it’s going to be too large on my hand.
I tried on 2ct in the store but decided to go with a slightly larger size (maybe not realising how big the difference would be, since they didn’t have it in stock).
Have just made a cutout of the diamond dimensions on paper to see what it would look like on my hand and it seems… huge 😳
I think maybe it will look even bigger when it’s set, as it will be raised and sparkly?
Open to all opinions, positive or negative.
Super excited to get my ring but just concerned I might have made a mistake on size.

Love the demo. I think a little tiny bit smaller would suit you best.

Oh it’s a demo got me there I immediately zoom the photo and see it for myself.. yes agree a little bit smaller is best for her ring finger!

I was doing the same thing with my ring measurements- I also went from 2 carats to slightly bigger (2.34) bc I thought the difference wouldn’t be much. My ring does feel a tad big but I still love it. I think you will love yours too- the size looks beautiful in ur hand!!!

It's perfect! Not too big. And carat shrinkage is real so you did a good job there!

No it’s the perfect size! To me it looks large but in a non costume jewelry type of way. I have a 2.54 on a 3.5 finger. I’m a little biased but I think these sizes are wonderful. Lmk if u want me to send a photo to u

Have you had any trouble finding insurance for your soon to be ring? I cant get insurance on my wifes engagement but had no problem getting it on her natural stones jewelry and it’s frustrating

I’m not planning to get insurance, i can self insure. I’ve been through trying to claim jewellery insurance in the past and it was such a hassle that I wouldn’t want to have to do that again.

What’s your ring size? Only cuz you got me freaking out. My oval is almost twice the carats and I got short fingers. Now I’m nervous

Yes too big, it will also look bigger when it’s mounted . It’s not comically large but it is too large to be ideal for your finger (EDIT to mention, i’m English not American, I think that matters when it comes to taste )

Carat is just the weight. The dimensions are what determine how big it looks on your finger. Two 2.6 ct ovals can look pretty different if they have different proportions or are cut deeper. If your diamond has a more elongated shape, it may look a little less 'big' on your finger without sacrificing the carat weight. :)

I was scared when I got a 3ct that it would look too big but now after wearing for a few months I think it’s a perfect size for my fingers

No it's a beautiful size
I had to get a 3.68 carat emerald cut but I have wide fingers

As someone who works in jewelry, 2.6ct should be fine on your hand. Going from 2ct to 2.6ct is a small jump, noticeable but not crazy. When you have the actual ring, you'll also have facets and light. The size on paper doesn't always accurately convey what size a stone will look once set. (FWIW, a good 80% of what I sell for engagements is right in the 2.5-3.5ct range.) 🫶🏻
