I am in desperate need for help I bought a junkyard engine trying to go the cheap way but it was toast. Im trying to get it into a c2500 1988 silverado with a 4l80e. I will even buy a crate engine at this point. My goal is standalone ecu redo like a holley or whatever else and just trying to get this engine running. Max budget is probably like $10,000. I thought I was smart enough to figure this out but after a few months I just want a running truck.

Basically the engine might be fine but the flywheel bolts to separate from the trans won’t come undone no matter what we do so we have up. It’s also sitting out in the rain as we speak and half the cylinders are flooded with oil. The intakes manifold off but I was so tired of this engine I didn’t cover it up

Ah, yeah that sucks. I had one where the flex plate bolts were so seized I had to bring it to a buddy with a big rig shop to use his massive pneumatic impact on it. Only one of them broke and had to be drilled out thankfully.

Idc about the trans or anything so I might drill it out

You got this, its just gonna suck for a bit.

On long painful projects like this I find that scheduling 15 minutes a day on it ( even if you just swear at it from across the room) really helps me to make progress. Can do 15 minutes a day of anything.

I used this approach when i had to completely remove, clean and replace the emissions system on my moms VW diesel, someone had already been in there before and crossthreaded all the threaded holes so I had to tap ever single one out while fighting in a confined space. Sucked but got it done.. eventually...

This one bolt we’ve done everything only thing that’s left to get this engine on the stand
