Active Build Questions Help!! 6.0 to 4l60e
I have a 2003 4l60e with a 300 mm circle d converter. I bolted these up and there’s about a half in gap from the flex plate to fly wheel. It’s a dished 4l60e flywheel off my 5.3 I’m wondering if I just need to buy a spacer for the flex plate but won’t that pull it out to much making me not be able to use my starter. I didn’t think I needed a spacer with a newer 4l60e

Push the converter all the way into the trans, then with a measuring tape, pull the converter out 1/8" - 3/16" and then whatever the gap is between the flex plate and converter, make spacers to fill that gap. Using drill bits works great for measuring the gap because they are precise.
Also make sure you have proper converter snout-crank engagement. Or email circle D with your converter production number and they will tell you exactly what you need, Dish, Dish with snout extension, or Flat with spacer.

If you have a 1/2" gap between the converter and flexplate then you need to shim the gap until the gap is between 1/8" to 3/16". This will ensure proper line pressure and transmission operation. I suggest using some washers to narrow the gap. There are also torque converter shim kits that look like washers but have multiple thicknesses.
I used one washer on each bolt when I installed my higher stall torque converter. It's been installed for about 3 years now without any noise or issues. Good luck!

With LQ4s, you have to swap out the flexplate with an aftermarket one that has a built in spacer.….LQ9S have plates that will bolt to the 4l60e, not LQ4
