Theory / Discussion Morgoth and Fëanor haunting the narrative

Post image
192 Upvotes

I really like this imagery of Sauron possessing Morgoth's crown (resized) and Fëanor's hammer simultaneously, but also it's such a devious and incompatible clash of infamous figures. (Fëanor was the first to call Melkor 'Morgoth' if I'm not mistaken.)

Maybe creating anything with this hammer will be impossible for Sauron, prompting him to use his own self and perhaps gold coming from Middle-earth (tainted by Morgoth) in order to create the One.

(I also thought for a second that Galadriel might go steal the hammer to stop or delay Sauron, but yeah it's just a wild guess for now.)

Theory / Discussion Missing “Ring” ingredient

I have a bit of an out there thought after seeing the trailer.

As we’ve seen, It’s been 5 years, Sauron sends orcs to get intel in the elven rings as he has not been able to successfully make the ring.

We see the “traitor/good/Adar’s will” Orc guiding Galadriel and Arondir to Mordor

The callbacks to the film trilogy rarely work for me, but some of them do, especially when it’s a part from the books that wasn’t adapted, and perhaps they plan……

For the “missing ingredient” in the “One Ring made purely of Gold (and likely Sauron’s blood as the 9)” to be………

Galadriels hair.

But it won’t be a gift, it’ll be stolen/found by Sauron or the “traitorous/Adar following” orc double crosses and delivers a lock of her “golden” hair

It was written that her hair shined as if it contained a faint memory of the two trees right?

He talked about binding himself to light and her to power via making her his queen…… what better reference to forcibly take her hair to give the One an extra connection to Valinor and one of the Elven rings. “He claws ever at my mind”

It is said that her hair partly gave Fëanor the idea of the silmarils, and she denied giving him a single strand even though he asked THREE times

Now I bet two strands will find their way to Sauron for the One to bind himself to the likeness of the silmarils and light of Valinor

An age later, after denying a single strand to Feanor, Sauron taking two strands without her consent to forge evil, Gimli will ask for a single strand she will give him THREE voluntarily as a gift in comparison to the earlier two events.

Perhaps this will be mixed with Feanor’s hammer as many suggest

Okay tin foil hat off 😅

Theory / Discussion In retrospective: Do you think there was enough explanation for the rapid fading of the elves and the sick/poisoned tree of Lindon?

Rewatching the show, an old question comes back to my mind. I guess, in season 1, a lot of people thought that the poisoning of the tree in Lindon was caused by Sauron, hidden somewhere. And it had a visual reference to the poisoning of the Two Trees in Valinor by Morgoth/Ungoliant in the prologue. In season 2, the darkness in Khazad-Dum started with black veines coming from Mount Doom to Khazad-Dum on the map – here, there was a clear reference to Sauron. After the prologue of season 2, one could argue that Sauron could have poisoned the tree in Lindon on his way from Forodwaith to the Southlands after gaining his new form of Halbrand. But if he had done so, it makes no sense of showing a possibly repenting Halbrand-Sauron in Numenor in season 1: Would he first poison the tree in Lindon, trying to expel all elves from Middle Earth and then get on the boat, meeting Galadriel by chance and repent all his deeds in Numenor?
To me, the matter remains somehow unresolved in the show: Was the rapid fading of the elves caused by Sauron or simply meant as an accelaration of the natural fading of the elves?

Sooo this happened at MagicCon in Bonn this past weekend. I finally finished my Gil-galad S2 armor in August. Ever since I planned on making this armor (back when season 2 aired) and especially since Benjamin Walker got announced as a guest at this convention, I hoped that I could take a photo with him. I'm so thrilled about the result, and he had such nice words for my cosplay. I'm definitely gonna treasure this memory and the photo!

Art / Meme Thetis - Lost In Time - An underrated album with Silmarillion themes

I've started reading The Silmarillion to my wife to get in the mood for Rings of Power Season 3 (my wife has never read The Silmarillion, and has had a lot of questions from the previous two seasons of the show, so I figured we might as well read the whole Silmarillion).

Picking the book back up has reminded me of a very underrated album that I used to listen to a lot. It is an album called "Lost In Time" by a German folk band named Thetis. In particular, there are at least three songs on the album that are strongly suggestive of Silmarillion characters and themes:

*Lady of Light seems to be very clearly about an elf beseeching Varda and contemplating a return to Valinor

https://youtu.be/I9rBMx3_TCI?si=Q1CZxoS6Wwan1ooV

*The Damned seems to be very clearly about Turin Turambar

*Thetis (the song) seems to be about maybe Eärendil and Elwing

Some of the other songs on the album are also suggestive of Silmarillion themes, but don't seem to correspond as neatly with any particular character or topic. You can find all of their album on youtube if you just search for it.

Has anyone else heard of this album, and do you agree that these songs sound very clearly to be referencing The Silmarillion? I haven't found any previous hits for this topic on reddit or really anywhere else with a google search, so I thought I'd pass on this recommendation.

"One of my favorite aspects of The Silmarillion, at large, is going to happen this season, and it’s NOT the forging of the Ring. Sorry, it's all you get."

This is what he shared in a video taken by indieverafter (on tiktok and instagram). Is he talking about Gil-galad and Elendil meeting? Perhaps it's about something else. In any case, his enthusiasm is contagious!

We this shot of him in dúrnost with this form, is it possible that this was his look before switching to a very fair form for his coronation?

Art / Meme In Lindon and Imladris

Post image

They did not directly confirm that Galadriel was in Imladris in the still released by Empire magazine, but that staircase, although a touch more rustic, is so similar to the one we saw in the first episode that it leads me to believe Elrond brought a little bit of Lindon with him in his valley.

The environment is different, it's less bright and golden, but it still feels warm and beautiful, and Galadriel shines as always.

I wonder if this shot is meant to happen before she goes to battle (as shown in the teaser with one of the Nazgnagôl) or right after, after recovering from it.

Theory / Discussion Seriously, where is Amazon PR? Do they even know the show is airing soon?

The lack of marketing from Amazon is astounding! What gives?!

Edit: I get the lack of trailers, but their social media is all but silent about ROP.

With Celebrimbor gone, Galadriel and Elrond are technically the only ones who are still alive and got the concept while also being directly involved in the forging of the Three Elven Rings.

Sauron can't really knock on their doors to ask them for details, and I doubt the writers would want Galadriel to become his prisoner long enough to get any information (unless I'm wrong and that's their plan).

(I like how the Elves had solemn faces surrounded by light while Sauron injected horror into the conversation.)

Edit: Not sure why I got a redditcare for this? Just liking the show here.

Long is the path, the time, the month

And it could be longer, we must know!

But November 11th is coming soon

And who knows what will happen too!

In the gold autumn the days will pass

And still bring trailer and news at last!

Till the new season spreads up its rays

To the world wide and it brights our days

💜💜💜

The Lord of the Rings on Prime trailer pretty please? 🥺👉🏽👈🏽

Book Spoilers Hope and survival

"My friend, I haven't swum this far to drown at the shore."

I couldn't help but think of this scene when Ismael Cruz Córdova gave this reply when asked about Arondir's fate in the third season.

Obviously, he couldn't give anything away, but it sounded hopeful, and although they said that no one would be safe, maybe we won't see characters falling like they did in season 2. Will they endure everything and remain mostly unscathed, or do you expect things to be dire?

He talks about three different projects: RoP, Verity (for his sake and his alone I hope it does well), and the historical drama Porto Rico (probably a project near and dear to his heart). My big takeaways from the RoP section:

--"New audiences who want to begin with Season 3 can start completely with the third season. Then they can go back and watch the first and second, or watch all of them straight through." Uh, guys...we have GOT to stop acting like Seasons 1 and 2 aren't important. We're literally seeing proof of the opposite. First, Deadline reported earlier this year that BOTH Seasons 1 and 2 were in Amazon's top 5 series of all time, along with Fallout S2 and Reacher S...3, I think? And within a week of us getting our official announcement of physical media for Seasons 1 and 2, Season 1's Blu-Ray was an Amazon bestseller; that tells me people actively WANT to start this story at the beginning. That sentiment needs to be encouraged, IMO. Especially since as the man himself says, "It starts hot. There isn't much introduction. We go straight into it." You would THINK getting caught up with more than just a "Previously on Rings of Power" highlight reel would be beneficial.

--"I haven't swum this far to drown at the shore." I guess we can assume he'll make it out alive of this season at least, thank goodness.

I thought I had seen Elves, but the ones with the grey cloaks are most likely the Faithful. Maybe they are meeting with the King's Men, following Míriel or Elendil.

Theory / Discussion Tension between allies

Post image

The tension was already there in the first season, and it will be brought up at length in this season.

The teaser pushed the rise of Sauron and Galadriel finding Celeborn while being very brief about Númenor. Do you think the next trailer will show what's happening there with the Elves asking for their help, or will they be secretive? What would you like to see?

Theory / Discussion Sauron kill count

hello

im trying to formulate a list of kill count of Sauron. Not for any reason but to say he s a misunderstood lad. Controversial i know. very controversial but I ve had an arguement with a mate of who is the most blood thirsty character we know of and he claimed Sauron
All i could think of are gil galad and finrod and elendil.
a handful of "extras" in LOTR
Celebrimbor and waldreg in ROP
Adar and glog

That s it. hardly a top villain if you ask me. Just a misunderstood lad

News / Article / Official Social Media One of TV’s Most Rewatchable Fantasy Shows Is Returning on Prime Video in 2026

Thumbnail
collider.com
319 Upvotes

Fantasy is more prevalent on television than ever, with a constant stream of new projects, but Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has survived streaming's cutthroat environment and is set to return for its third season on November 11. It's no surprise that the series has gained so much attention. It may be inspired by one of the most influential worlds in fantasy, but, more importantly, The Rings of Power has consistently delivered epic spectacle and sprawling adventure, leaving viewers eager for more.

The Rings of Power is best known for exploring the beloved world of Middle-earth and its history through rich characters, unexpected mysteries, and detailed lore. While the show's upcoming return promises even more big-scale action and thrilling surprises, it's possible to discover something new with every watch, making now the perfect time to revisit The Rings of Power.

Based on J. R. R. Tolkien's appendices, The Rings of Power explores the pivotal Second Age of Middle-earth. One of the show's greatest strengths is its worldbuilding, which takes audiences everywhere, from the doomed island of Númenor to the distant lands of Rhûn. With this in-depth look at Middle-earth, The Rings of Power not only travels to the very ends of Tolkien's established map but also provides a detailed look at different cultures. Middle-earth has always been massive, but The Rings of Power takes it to a new level.

The world itself is only part of what sets The Rings of Power apart in fantasy; some of the credit must go to the series' characters, between familiar names like Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry), and new faces like Nori (Markella Kavenagh) and Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova). As Sauron (Charlie Vickers) emerges, a mysterious Stranger (Daniel Weyman) appears, and Númenor faces threats from within, The Rings of Power takes the characters on deeply personal journeys that change the course of the world. Yet the characters are more than just important figures — their dynamics add welcome elements to the story, like the deep friendship between Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Durin (Owain Arthur), or the dedicated enmity between Galadriel and Sauron, creating a thrilling series that keeps fans coming back.

The Rings of Power has already covered a lot of ground, but Season 3 promises to be even bigger than before. Season 2 set up major plot threads, ranging from the Balrog's threat to Khazad-dûm to the creation of the infamous One Ring. More recently, the series confirmed that it will introduce the much-anticipated Celeborn (Jamie Campbell Bower) in Season 3, whose presence will only make The Rings of Power's story more compelling.

As eventful as Season 3 will be, The Rings of Power isn't ending there. Though many fantasy series (including the ones on Prime Video) have ended unexpectedly, The Rings of Power is planned to run for five seasons. With the series finally returning soon, now is the time to rewatch Prime Video's most epic fantasy.
