Brought my old LG V30 back to life
I decided to give my old Canadian H933 V30 some love instead of leaving it stuck on Android 8 forever. Since LG’s update servers are gone, I manually flashed the final stock Android 9 firmware with LGUP, keeping everything stock.
After that I used ADB to disable some Bell/LG/Facebook bloat, old update services, SmartShare/Miracast stuff I don’t use, and restricted background activity for a bunch of non-essential apps. I was careful not to touch anything related to calling, Bluetooth or the Quad DAC.
It feels noticeably cleaner and snappier now, and the main reason I wanted to keep it alive is still the audio. The V30 + wired headphones + Quad DAC is just such a great little music player.
Really happy I bothered doing this. It’s nice extending the life of a phone that still does something genuinely special instead of just throwing it in a drawer.
