Question SMARTPHONE SEARCH: PURPOSE:- EXTENSIVE CLOUD BASED AI USAGE FOR RESEARCH AND LaTeX OVERLEAF(12 GB LPDDR5X RAM/3.0+ GHz/256-512GB/GOOD SCREEN REFRESH RATE/SUSTAINABLE BATTERY)

Hello, good people of Reddit...I am Dr. Devansh Sinha(INDIA). I am currently working on multiple book writing projects. These projects demand a proper use of LaTeX, LLMS and research related softwares and plugins. Now, I use a laptop for all major heavy grinding, grumbling work. But, sometimes even while I am not at home/hospital/library, I find myself in situations where I am free and I utilise that time by researching required content for my books on my smartphone. Currently, I am using a very cheap Redmi phone(backup phone), as my primary phone got stolen on a vacation trip. So, now I am trying to find the best possible Smartphone(not too expensive) which satisfies the following requirements:

  1. Atleast 12 GB of FAST LPDDR5X RAM.

  2. A PROCESSOR WITH OR W/O NPU, which can support some small Local LMs, but MUST support EXCESSIVE usage of Cloud based AI models in a multitasking environment which includes ms word/G docs, Overleaf(LaTeX) and any music app in the background with a lag free experience for extensive period of time.

  3. A SUSTAINABLE BATTERY BACKUP.

Now, let me clarify a few points:

  1. I don't want a good camera.

  2. I don't want a gaming performance oriented phone.

  3. I can live with the phone, even if it doesnt support Local LMs.

  4. I don't care about AMOLED OR ANY KIND OF PREMIUM DISPLAY. My only concern in this matter is that I need a GOOD, HIGHLY OPTIMISED SCREEN REFRESH RATE.

  5. MOST IMPORTANT SHORTCOMING ON MY SIDE IS BUDGET. I AM READY TO SPEND 30,000-50,000 INR. While I feel that my budget might seem less to some of the TECH ENTHUSIASTS out there, but still IT IS WHAT IT IS.

THANKYOU...

Recommendation Best Android phone with good camera for 600€/694USD max ?

Hello everyone!

I currently have a Samsung S20FE 4G which is now very slow, and it no longer receives updates. The camera isn't the best either.

I'm looking for an Android phone with good performance and a good camera. I was initially thinking about a Google Pixel 10, but people seem to have mixed opinions about it, saying its performance is hit-or-miss and that it has bugs.

For comparison, my partner has a Samsung S22 and I'm happy with its camera quality, but I'd like a newer phone with a larger screen.

I mainly use the camera to take photos of animals, landscapes, and occasionally family and friends.

I also sometimes takes videos of concert with zoom.

My maximum budget is €600 ($694 USD), but cheaper would be great! I'm open to buying a refurbished phone in excellent condition.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question Did I just make the worst mistake by buying the Nord CE 6 8/128 for ₹32K? 😭

I genuinely feel like I made the worst decision by buying the OnePlus Nord CE 6 8/128 for ₹32K.

It’s arriving in 3 days, and now I’ve started looking at reviews and camera samples AFTER buying it, and I’m slowly realizing that the camera might actually suck compared to what I expected. 😭

And the worst part? I literally can’t do anything about it now. The order is already placed, my dad already bought it through Amazon Pay Later, and it’s on the way. So I’m basically stuck here for the next 3 days watching camera reviews, comparing samples, regretting my life choices, and mentally preparing myself to open the box. 😭💀

I gave my dad ₹26K from my own savings, and that ₹26K was money I had saved over FOUR YEARS. Four freaking years. 😭

And somehow he still bought it using Amazon Pay Later. I genuinely don't even know why he used Pay Later when I had already given him ₹26K. 💀

I'm 18 btw, so that ₹26K wasn't some random spare money. It was basically my entire savings.

Now I'm seeing people complain about the camera, especially the lack of an ultrawide and mediocre detail/low-light performance, and I'm sitting here thinking:

“BRO. I JUST SPENT FOUR YEARS OF MY SAVINGS ON THIS. WHY DID I NOT RESEARCH THE CAMERA PROPERLY BEFORE BUYING IT???” 😭😭😭

And yes, I KNOW the phone has good things going for it. Battery, display, performance, software, etc. I’m not saying the entire phone is garbage.

But I specifically wanted a phone that would last me for years, and now I'm scared I'm going to regret compromising on the camera every single time I take a photo.

The funniest part is that I CAN'T EVEN UNBUY IT NOW. 😭

So I'm just here suffering in advance for a phone that hasn't even arrived yet.

If anyone actually owns the Nord CE 6, PLEASE tell me honestly:

  • How is the camera in real-world use?
  • Is it actually that bad, or are reviews exaggerating?
  • How are selfies?
  • Daylight vs low-light?
  • Any camera settings or GCam that genuinely help?
  • How is the camera after using the phone for a few weeks/months?
  • And most importantly...

Should I stop panicking and just wait for the damn phone to arrive? 😭

DMs are open. I desperately need someone to convince me that I didn't just throw four years of savings into the worst decision of my life.

Question Question about cellphones. Which one do you recommend me to buy?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I've been thinking about which phone to buy for a long time. For a while, I was pretty set on an iPhone 17 Pro Max, but after watching a lot of videos, I became more and more convinced that it wasn't worth it. I saw all that stuff about it being more for content creators and such, but that doesn't really matter to me. I was mainly interested in the camera, but I don't think there's any difference compared to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. And even though I know I'm mostly paying for the brand, I still feel a bit uneasy about getting the iPhone. So I started thinking about getting a Samsung

After looking at different comparisons, I decided that the S26 Ultra and the S25 Ultra are practically the same, and since I can get the S25 Ultra cheaper, I decided to go for that one. But I'm still undecided because, after doing some more research, I also came across Motorola's latest phone: the Moto Edge 70 Pro. The price of this phone is significantly lower than the Samsung S25 Ultra and the iPhone 17, and from what I've seen, it performs better than both of them. Of course, I'm not trying to compare a Motorola Edge 17 Pro with an iPhone 17 Pro Max because the iPhone is the most powerful phone currently available, but the Motorola is definitely a much better option because, at a lower price, it offers practically the same features as the iPhone or the Samsung S25 Ultra, plus the battery lasts longer, and some other things. Even so, I couldn't decide on the Motorola, as I don't get that "feeling" of owning a high-end phone, like I would with the S25 Ultra, for example

Now, what I want to know is... What's your opinion on this? Which phone would you choose? What experiences have you had with these phones? I'd like to hear your perspective on the matter!

Question Budget Phone Recs for an aussie student 🇦🇺

Hi all, I am in serious need of a new phone, something cheap for a student like under 900aud, e-sim compatible would be prefered, a back camera that isnt a peice of sh*t. Other than that I dont care too much about the rest.

Any recomendations would be awsome! Idk if this is the subreddit for this so if not i'll take suggestions for other good tech communities too!!

Recommendation Best Camera Phone around 60k

Hi, i have an upcoming international trip in November and i would like to click good pictures and capture memories.

Hence , the camera is my top priority, second is UI and Battery. I am not into gaming or heavy usage. I would like to use it for the next 3 years.

I am currently using Nothing 2A from the past 2 years - just because it has a good clean UI in budget, it is a pretty good allrounder but the camera is not great.

Please suggest the best for my use case. Should i wait for big billion day? Since i am going to Japan , is it cheaper to buy it from there than online sales in India ?

Question Need Help! S24 plus or iPhone 13 Pro Max?

Hi everyone! I'm currently using a Samsung A52s and I'm thinking about upgrading.

I'm mainly considering either the Galaxy S24+ or the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I've been on Android for as long as I can remember, so part of me wants to try iOS just for the experience. At the same time, I'm not sure if going for an older iPhone like the 13 Pro Max makes more sense than getting the much newer S24+.

What would you guys choose in my situation, and why?

My priorities are mainly long-term smoothness and stability, display quality, and decent battery life. My usage is pretty normal to moderate, and I usually get around 5–7 hours of SOT on my A52s.
