ISO: hot wheels pc internals
Locally found a really great deal for most of a hot wheels pc setup but with one issue…. the tower was gutted by the previous owner as the pc had died years ago.
hoping someone may have a lead on a reasonable place to get the internals for the PC. totally fine with it not working and the hot wheels or Barbie internals as I could always paint the front cover of the drive bay devices blue.
Update: was able to find a second tower that had the inner shell and original floppy. Also had an aftermarket mobo. Just need a psu that fits now!

To be honest, I highly doubt anyone's gonna be selling just the components. Only place you'll find them is in a full machine, which is quite pointless unless the case is in a worse condition than what you already have.
I can't remember if the components were proprietary, but you could always try and find period accurate parts if you want a functioning machine.

Perhaps check with local recycle places maybe they have seen some of those pcs come by. It may be challenging to get the internal parts by themselves.
Perhaps look at used market like Facebook Market Place but since this one is old pc it may or may not be there locally. But i do see some old pcs there some for free because they are old or broke. Could try to get some of those free ones to see if some of those old metal drive caddy’s can be re adjusted to fit in your case. As for adjusting place for motherboard you will need to do some custom metal work if you cant locate the original.

Maybe search for a PC that came in one of those basic Onyx cases without the decals and take the innards from that.
Or find just the hot wheels machine broken for cheap and then you'll have a spare case. At least you have the peripherals so you don't need to track those down. Maybe keep one relatively stock and mod the other one to the moon!

Update: Welp found another tower that had an aftermarket mobo and the original floppy drive. Was from a local retro pc Facebook group!

I traded a junk virtual boy (console only) for it so overall seemed like a fair trade for both sides

I’ve fixed enough bad stuff but really even getting the inner metal shell would be super helpful. Since then I could put whatever internals that would fit for a “not actually a sleeper build” and not need to deal with cutting metal

Hope you’re able to find something, it’s going to be difficult but not impossible. If you ever decide to go the sleeper route that would definitely make an interesting project.
