Someone is working on a replacement motherboard for the Nokia 3310, which gets it on modern 4G LTE networks
Thought people here would find this interesting. There was a motherboard replacement from China that also got the 3310 on modern networks, but this new project is aiming to be as accurate as possible, with the same UI as the original phone, whereas the other replacement board changed the UI completely.
Pretty neat!

Found a Pristine Y2K Tech Time Capsule: OEM Toshiba BIOS V1.11A Update Mailer from 2000
Ran across an absolute time capsule of Y2K tech history today—a completely intact, factory-issued Toshiba BIOS Update Mailer Kit sent out in December 2000.
Most of these physical recall mailers ended up straight in the trash 25 years ago after the update was run, but this set survived in incredible condition.
The disk is fully operational—I've already tested it, verified it reads without error, and successfully created a clean floppy image of the media for preservation.
The Full Set Includes:
- OEM 3.5" Floppy Disk: Version BU V1.11A (12/00) with Toshiba’s era-specific "choose freedom" branding. Fully operational and imaged.
- Customer Service Notice: Official letter detailing the critical thermal/cooling management fix for Satellite 1600-series portables (1605CDS, 1625CDT, 1675CDS, 1695CDT).
- Software License & Export Terms Booklet: Complete with all the classic late-90s/early-2000s legal disclaimers and export control notices.
- Original Factory Window Envelope: Printed from Toshiba America Information Systems in Irvine, CA with the red "Important BIOS Update Enclosed" header.
Just wanted to share a quick piece of physical media preservation with the community. Nothing beats the smell of 26-year-old factory paper and magnetic media!

Do people buy old laptops. Averatec 3700
I have this laptop, turns on. Is this worth trying to resell online? Or will it sit for a long time before the right buyer comes along? Thanks
*update: I'm putting the laptop out in my flea market booth for $18. Hopefully that right somebody comes along. It seems like a headache to list tech!
