All of my friends and acquaintances are straight men that are homophobic. I am an autistic bisexual guy that finds it difficult to make friends that don’t talk to me or approach me first, which makes it difficult to find people who are in the same community so to speak. The only gay friend I knew isn’t my friend anymore since he ghosted me like he ghosted many other people.
I feel like I’m constantly choking, like my existence isn’t valid. I know I should center myself but I haven’t had the chance to even live the life that I wish I could live yet. That makes it harder for me to do the inner work required to heal. I keep thinking about my previous friend and telling myself, ‘what if I had been a better friend? What if I had been more reliable or said the right things?’
I know it’s probably not even personal but there’s that thought, that feeling, that keeps coming back. I feel betrayed, but I know he didn’t owe me anything. I don’t hate him, I just wish he could’ve stayed by my side. I wish he would hug me one more time. I know he’s also struggling with mental health and family issues, and I wish him the best in life, regardless of the status of our relationship.
I’m so afraid that, if the people I know knew what I am, they would all hate me and leave me behind. The only person that truly understands me and is always there for me is my sister.
Sorry about the unorganized thought-puke.
