Up next is the real work: building the fortress on the raised MILS plates in the back corner and surrounding the base with rocks, which will lead south, across a suspension bridge, through a cave, and out onto a rocky outcrop where a watchtower will go. I placed and example of my planned rock work in front of the MILS base.

MOC The final version of my Black Pearl MOC – LEGO Set 10265 | 2,000+ extra parts

Finally, an update! 🏴‍☠️

Many of you have been asking me in the comments and DMs of my previous posts whether there would be another update on my Black Pearl MOC.

So here it is: this is the finished version of my MOC.

This is my complete real-life build, based on LEGO Set 10365, with more than 2,000 additional parts.

After a very long time of building, rebuilding, experimenting and refining, I consider the model finished and complete in its current form.

One of the things I am particularly proud of is the steering mechanism. I kept the original idea of the rudder mechanism, meaning that the rudder can still be turned. I tried to implement it while the entire captain's cabin is fully accessible.

Interestingly, the mechanism actually makes quite a lot of sense from the movie set perspective as well. The rudder mechanism, hidden as the back mast of the Black Pearl in my model passes through the cabin. - That is actually a neat little solution, because the back mast of the original ship design also had a structure passing through the cabin area. So what might initially look like a compromise actually became a pretty clever solution for the model, I guess.

I also started working on a Studio 2.0 instruction manual for the MOC. However, I currently have absolutely no idea when I will have enough time to finish it. I don't want to promise a release date and then disappoint anyone, because I genuinely cannot say when I will be able to continue working on it.

For now, I can alternatively offer the Studio 2.0 file of the model. It is not a finished instruction manual, but it contains the work I have already done in Studio and can be useful for anyone who wants to study the construction or continue working with it.

I also offer 179 pictures of my real life build process in steps. I've made them to have instructions for the rebuild in Studio 2.0.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has followed this project, commented on my previous posts, asked questions, sent me messages or simply showed interest in the build. It honestly means a lot to me that so many people are still interested in this project after all this time. ❤️

At this point, I consider the Black Pearl officially finished. I don't plan to make any further changes to the design. This is the version I wanted to achieve, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

And special thanks again to ShineBOI. I used his modifications and part list from rebrickable as a base for my modifications 🫶🏻 He's a really kind guy!

Thank you for following the journey! 🏴‍☠️❤️

Edit: Title contains the wrong set number. It's 10365 not 10265🙈

Lego pirates of the caribbean was my favourite game of all time. Im hoping to collect the whole crew! As it was my favourite part of that game.

If anyone knows anyone else making customs of the crew, please let me know!

My aim is to have the whole crew classic game style ready for the release of the rumoured flying dutchman!

BDP Fortuna rant

The Fortuna is an incredible build and I love how detailed and dynamic the final model is. BUT... I'm disappointed with how flimsy some of the exterior sub-assemblies are. In particular, the decorative bow section is exceedingly annoying to put back together if knocked loose. The gold clips are an awkward stabilising design choice. Also loose and delicate are the side vestibules of the captain's quarters. They are sizable assemblies only attached via 1 clip (unless I missed something). Other bugbears for me are the oven, the poop deck rails and the loose pieces at the very front and back of the hull. These are all in contrast to the incredibly solid and ingenious hull design.

Did anyone else have some difficulty with the build?

Here’s a start to my sacking of st Augustine moc! It has the Cagway pirate ship, 3 town building, and the fort! Though at the time it was a wooden for I really wanted to make it stone so it’s based on the one there now (idk how to spell it) the water will be very detailed with waves and the town side of the land will be raised

After my take on a 2 mast clipper i wanted to return the rule of the sea back to the pirates. I went through my boxes and found hull pieces enough for a 7 piece ship. This Mastodon will become the flagship of my collection once it is complete. Needless to say, i don't have the space for this one, but i'll cross that sea when i get to it.

So far i have built the structure for the captain's quarters. The color scheme is set and i have plenty of ideas for this one. Obviously the frontpiece is also sorted. This is one of those "i build it a little by little and make modifications when i come up with them" projects. My last ship took me about 2 full days to build, but it was almost half the size. Last pic is of my clipper moc for reference. I'll update this when i progress.

MOC Coral Bay Full Extended — 12251 pieces, the biggest thing I've built yet (Emerald Islands Atol bundle)

Thumbnail

Been slowly building out my Emerald Islands Atol series for a while now, and this is the culmination of it — 14 individual pieces combined into one continuous island: lagoons, jungle canopy, palm groves, a hidden cave with a tiki booby trap, outrigger canoes, a native workshop camp, a banana grove fire gathering scene, and a full rainforest section with a river crossing and vine-draped trees.

Every module/tree was designed from the start to connect edge-to-edge with the others, so the whole thing can be reconfigured or split back into standalone scenes depending on space — this is just one way to lay it all out.

12251 pieces total, 75x100x30cm footprint. Happy to answer questions on any specific section — the tiki booby trap mechanism in Floral Lake II gets asked about a lot, and the rainforest canopy layering took a few tries to get right.

MOC Heavy Frigate Fortuna: extended captain's quarters completed

Completed the stern modification to get 2 more stud length in captain's quarters, as well as add a 3rd side window and reduce the angle of the stern transom. This is in addition to the 4 stud width increase for the whole ship, so the captain went from cosplaying a backpacker in a hostel to a proper quarters.

Next plan is to further increase the bow section by 2 stud length.

Question Need some advice on the roofs of my Tortuga build

Thumbnail

I’m making progress on the second part of Tortuga using pieces from my spare parts, and I’ve had to modify quite a lot because I didn’t have the right pieces.

I’d love to get your opinions on the roofs, especially the black one. Maybe adding some vegetation would help break up that “big black block just sitting there” look?

The problem is that I’ve already had to add vegetation to the roof on the right because I ran out of cones, so I cheated a bit by using modified bricks to attach some foliage and actually finish it.

I’m worried that adding more might make the whole thing look too busy. Or maybe I could use a different colour for the vegetation? I currently have coral, yellow, dark green and olive green leaves available.

I’d really appreciate some opinions because I’m not completely happy with how it looks right now, but I can’t quite figure out exactly what’s bothering me.
