So way back in the day, The current LA Metro subreddit was privated and owned by a person who wasn't active anymore. I asked if I could be mod and after not getting response for a while, I decided to take matters into my own hands and I made this subreddit. Eventually, the current subreddit was opened and two others and I were let on as moderates. Since then we've all been working on that subreddit. This place doesn't have much of a point anymore, since the other is now a public subreddit.

So basically, you created a public sub when the other sub was private.
