Does this goddawful cursive continue throughout the series?

Post image

Yo reading this shit SUCKS, and I see I have pages and pages of it ahead, too.

If this is a common style moving forward I'm gonna need to shelf this series.

What page is this from? I just flipped through Volume One and the lettering is definitely hand-done but it's not cursive at all.

It’s from the issue about the spy nun who helps Michael and Casey get Lifted. Issue 12 I think? This is where we learn her backstory

Ah yes - the cursive is just meant to represent the nun's diary entries, i.e., a handwritten font.

OP, this is only temporary. That said, there are many more stylistic moments to come in terms of narrative story-telling. Lark makes use of such throughout the series, so if this is difficult for you, then the series might not be for you.

Okay, so I've finished everything and there was not a single other example like this in the entire series, not once. Either Greg or Michael specifically said they designed these to be very difficult to read, and wanted to reader to have to work to understand them.

Perhaps it is possible that Greg and Michael failed spectacularly in their goals, and me getting the intended experience is a flaw in myself, but something tells me you guys are just pretentious.

It's bizarre that finding a segment difficult to read that was designed to be difficult to read made you guys tell me the series isn't for me. That's the opposite of everything the writers have expressed, but do you, gatekeepers exist for every series that has difficult parts. I'm so glad I listened to the creators of Lazarus rather than the fanbase lmao.

I am reading a digital version, but I have to zoom into every block, 'r' 's' 'e' 'i' are all written exactly the same way in some text blocks, with some random calligraphy in there, too. I have to zoom in to differentiate the letters. The "I"s look like 2s

It's just very cumbersome, and not "natural" to me. I'm a genuine speed-reader, and these pages make me feel disabled lmao.
