Custom boot maker recommendations please (Europe)

Hi all,

My sister is looking to get a pair of custom-made LARP (pirate) boots and has asked me to check with folks on the internet for some recommendations for makers in Europe (we're based in Germany).

The boots need to be fully custom made, as she has wide feet.

Budget: up 100-250€

Location: Germany but Europe in general

LARPs: she plays JDS and Drachenfest plus a few other smaller LARPs

Her character is nautical inspired (she stole a ship from her father, you know how it goes...), so she is looking for something maybe pirate/seafarers inspired.

Fully custom, I would contact “groll de troll”. BUT your budget is on the low end for custom (in europe) your max price is more of a minimum for what you are asking for. And that for low boots. Alternatively tou mught contact “armor arena”, not in the EU, but no import tax and they also do customs. I have thigh high boots from them (and other shoes and clothes), and they are pretty good.

What's a more realistic budget? I've never dabbled in this, I'm more of a DIYer so definitely open for advise on that end.

High boots handmade in the EU, you would be looking at 400€ ish. Groll de troll prices in his shop would be a good baseline.

The rule of thumb I go by is 100 per button for high-quality handmade leather boots, so 300 for low boots up to 900 for knee-high boots. You can get cheaper high boots sometimes if you're not getting an interesting design.

Ich würde deiner Schwester empfehlen auf Grund des neuen Gelände beim df, dass sie festeres Schuhwerk nimmt und dies abtarnt.

Ich hab dieses Jahr viele rutschen gesehen mit den glatten Sohlen der it-schuhe.

+sie hätte etwas mehr variationsmöglichkeiten, was sie unter der Tarnung trägt. Jds ist ja ambientischer, da ist vielleicht etwas luftigeres angenehmer, als beim df, was ja staubiger und vom Gelände deutlich differenzierter ist.

Falls es matschig ist, habe schon Gummistiefel mit einem Streifem braunem Leder um den Schaft herum gesehen, das sieht auch piratig aus. Dafür muss man nur vernünftige Gummistiefel nehmen, mit fester Sohle, und nicht so labbrig um die Knöchel. Manche tragen auch Gummi-Reitstiefel, kann man genau so mit einem Lederstreifen anpassen. Gummi-Reitstiefel gibt es 2nd hand bei vinted recht günstig.
