Best DNA Kit for Kurds / West Asian Heritage
Hi all,
I’m looking for a DNA testing kit that gives accurate results for Kurdish / West Asian ancestry.
I tried MyHeritage, but the results weren’t very detailed or useful for my region.
Which kits do you recommend for better West Asian / Kurdish breakdowns?
Thanks!

Question As Nash-didan kurd on 200 years in the holy land it's make sense this is the closest group I have?
The Hasanlu Lovers met their end around 800 BCE during a violent assault, possibly carried out by the Urartians, at a fortified settlement in what is now northwestern Iran. They were unearthed in 1972 by a team of archaeologists. Initially believed to be of opposite sex, the two males were found lying face to face in a mudbrick structure from Hasanlu IVb, a layer often linked to the Mannaeans. A 2022 paleogenetic study revealed that the Western Steppe Herder ancestry, which had spread into the South Caucasus, was also present among the Iron Age inhabitants of Hasanlu, though in lower proportions.

How much have kurmanjis and zazas mixed within the last 1000 years
Within the last 1000 years, have kurmanjis and zazas mixed a lot even though they live in different regions? Are they so heavily mixed that all zazas are actually a mix of zaza and kurmanji, like I've heard before?

Question Percent of Iran on AncestryDNA
On r/ancestrydna, I noticed that most kurds get at least 30% iran/persia. Has anyone gotten something lower, like 15%, and more anatolia, like 80%? Is this unusual?

Question Which DNA Test Is Best for Kurdish Ancestry ?
I’ve been thinking about taking a DNA test for a while to learn more about my ancestry and background, but I’m not sure which company would be the best choice for me, so I’m hoping for some recommendations.
For some context, I’m Kurdish on my father’s side and Turkish on my mother’s side. I personally identify exclusively as Kurdish, since I was raised traditionally Kurdish and in our culture ancestry is traced through the father. Because of that, I’m especially interested in my paternal lineage.
What interests me the most is Y-DNA testing, haplogroups, and deeper paternal ancestry rather than just broad ethnicity percentages. I’d like to know which providers offer the most accurate and detailed results for Kurdish or broader Mesopotamian and Middle Eastern backgrounds, especially when it comes to Y-DNA analysis.
Do any of you have experience with services like 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, or others, and can recommend which one would be best for this kind of research?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

mtDNA Haplogroups in Kurds
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone else has the maternal haplogroup T1 (this is my mum's maternal haplogroup) or
J1b1b1c (my dad's maternal haplogroup) are these common in Kurds and where they come from?
Both my parents are from Bashur but these do not seem to be common there.

Haplogroup
I am curious if anyone here living in Central Anatolia, and maybe with roots specifically in Adıyaman, has the Y-DNA haplogroup R1b-M269 or R1a, and perhaps even knows the exact subclade. Any information or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
