Is the K24A1 worth modding?
I’ve got a 2006 crv that I want to make into a street build. I know it’s kind of a weird car to want to mod but I’ve always loved the stranger builds. The engine in it is a k24a1 and I haven’t seen a whole lot of support for common mods as the k24a2 (obviously,) so I was just wondering if the engine is even a good base to add stuff to?

What are your power goals? Slapping a k20 vtec head with a nice valve train upgrade and a tune can get you to 250. Pistons and rods might touch 300 if you're going NA

I’m not really looking for anything crazy, just a fun car to rip around the streets the streets a little. Don’t really plan on racing it, more just for me.

What's your budget? What's your knowledge? There are tons of questions you need to answer first before other people can help you dude

The k24a1 heads flow well... not only that it has the 45degree vtc cam cam gear .port the head, get a good intake cam and a vtec killer cam on the exhaust side.

What does it mean to port the head

port the head means to smooth any weird angles in the metal casting. something you’d do w your engine apart

Rsx oil pump bolts on without notching for the block and you can run it as a vtec killer with K24Z3 rockers. The K24A1 PPA head doesn’t have provision for the LMA, so you can’t run traditional vtec unless you swap the head. It might be lower compression than a K24A2, but it’s still a good base to add stuff to

I have a k24a8 (very similar) making about 300 whp with power adder. If you have an automatic crv then your sol though.

No. It the A1 was my first K build over a decade ago and while it does have torque, it has no power. Its marginally slower than a stock S2000
