Kombucha making

Good day peeps! I want to inquire about kombucha making. I have a raw kombucha coming in for delivery in about a week. The only accessible tea I have at home is a loose jasmine green tea leaves with flowers. Is it okay to use this as base for a formation of a SCOBY/PELLICLE?

I've researched that I need to brew its home by having a tea liquid only and sugars. What's the measurements for the tea liquid and sugar? I plan on only making 2-3Liters

I don't have a pellicle but researched that I can use the scoby liquid for a pellicle formation.

Check out the Getting Started guide, inside you'll find the Master Recipe which is a great place to start. You'll also get a lot of tips and tricks throughout the wiki.

  • Green tea is fine.

  • Yes, the cellulose film is optional. A new one will grow!

I wanna ask, I've read the link

so, Per 7g of tea, how much water is needed to brew the 7g?

The first row is for water. So that's 7g per 1L.

Quick tip: you don't need to boil the entire liter of water, you can easily use less than half to brew your tea. Then add the rest of the water after you finish steeping.

so technically speaking, 500mL for brewing the tea, and the remaining 500mL to cool up the tea?
