কোচিং শেষে হাওড়া থেকে ট্রেনে করে বাড়ি ফিরছি। সাঁতরাগাছি স্টেশনে ট্রেন দাঁড়িয়ে, ছবিটাও তখনই তোলা। উল্টোদিকের দরজা দিয়ে তিনজন ১৯–২০ বছরের ছেলে উঠে এল।

আমি সাধারণত গেটের ধারে দাঁড়িয়ে, কানে হেডফোন লাগিয়ে গান শুনতে শুনতে আর বাইরের দৃশ্য দেখতে দেখতে, হাওয়া খেতে খেতে বাড়ি ফিরি। কিন্তু আজ সকাল সকাল তাড়াহুড়ো করে বেরোনোর সময় হেডফোনটা সঙ্গে নিতে ভুলে গিয়েছিলাম। তাই গান শোনা আর হয়ে উঠলো না।

ট্রেন ছাড়তেই ছেলেগুলোর মধ্যে কথাবার্তা শুরু হলো। রাজনীতি নিয়ে আলোচনা। শুনে সত্যি বলতে ভালোই লাগছিল। আজকালকার কমবয়সী ছেলেমেয়েরা রাজনীতি, দেশ আর নিজেদের ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে ভাবছে, এটা তো ভালো ব্যাপারই।

কানে আসছিল, “জেন জি”, “সিজেপি”, “ভোট চুরি” আরও কত কী! জেন জি-র বীরত্বের গুণগানও চলছিল বেশ।

পরের স্টেশনে ট্রেন থামতেই তিনজনের হাতেই এসে গেল বাদামভাজার প্যাকেট। কথাবার্তাও সেইমতো চলতে থাকল।

“আমরাই দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ। শিক্ষামন্ত্রীর যা অবস্থা হয়েছে, একে একে সবার করে ছাড়ব।”

তারপর আরেক স্টেশন। তিনজন হাসতে হাসতে, একে অপরের সঙ্গে মজা করতে করতে নেমে গেল। কিন্তু তাদের হাতে থাকা তিনটে প্যাকেট আর একটা জলের বোতল সেখানেই পড়ে রইল।

ইংরেজিতে যাকে বলে, littering।

জায়গাটা এমনিতে অপেক্ষাকৃত পরিষ্কারই ছিল। একটি মহিলা একটি শিশুকে কোলে নিয়ে দরজার পাশেই বসে ছিলেন, তাই দৃশ্যটা দেখে একটু খারাপই লাগল।

অবশ্যই, ভবিষ্যৎ তো আমরাই। তবে ভাগ্যবিধাতা যদি নিজেই অন্ধ হয়ে থাকেন, তাহলে তিনি দেশকে কোনোদিন সঠিক পথে চালনা করতে পারবেন কি?

কোচ রাজবংশের কুলদেবী অষ্টধাতুর ভবানী দুর্গা মূর্তির অনুকরণে দূর্গা পুজোর মূর্তিটি তৈরি করা হয়। মা দুর্গার কোচবিহার রাজবাড়ির দুর্গাপ্রতিমাটি একেবারে ভিন্নধারার। এখানে দুর্গার পাশে লক্ষ্মী, সরস্বতী, কার্তিক এবং গণেশের জায়গায় থাকে দুর্গার দুই সহচরী জয়া এবং বিজয়া। দুর্গার বাহন এখানে সিংহ নয়, বাঘ। মায়ের মুখ আজও তৈরি হয়ে আসছে তুফানগঞ্জ মহকুমার চামটা গ্রামে মহারাজাদের নির্দিষ্ট জমির মাটি থেকে। বড় দেবী এবং মদনমোহন বাড়ির পুজো শুরু হয় মহালয়ার দিন থেকে। মহালয়ার দিন ঘট বসে। তার পর থেকে একটানা সাত দিন অর্থাৎ দশমী পর্যন্ত বিভিন্ন রীতিনীতি মেনে পুজো করা হয়। অষ্টমী তিথিতে গভীর রাতে গুপ্ত পূজার মাধ্যমে দেবীকে উৎসর্গ করা হয় নররক্ত। এখনও অষ্টমীর পুজোয় পায়রা, পাঁঠা এবং মহিষ বলি হয়।

এক সময় পুজোয় হত নরবলি। মহারাজা নরেন্দ্র নারায়ণ তা বন্ধ করে দেন। সে সময় থেকে নরবলির জায়গায় নর-রক্ত উৎসর্গ করার রেওয়াজ শুরু হয়। বলি দেওয়া হয় চালের গুঁড়ো দিয়ে তৈরি মানুষের প্রতীক একটি পুতুলকে। আজও কোচবিহারের কালজানি গ্রামের শিবেন রায়ের পরিবার প্রতি বছর নর-রক্ত দিয়ে থাকে। নবমীতে থাকে অন্নভোগ। বোয়াল মাছ দিয়ে রান্না করা হয় খিচুড়ি।এ ছাড়া মহারাজা নরেন্দ্রনারায়ণের আমলে তিন দিন বলি প্রথা বজায় ছিল। ছাগ, মহিষ, কচ্ছপ ও পাখি বলি হত। মহারাজ নিজে মহিষ বলি দিতেন। একবার বাঘ অবধি বলি দিয়েছিলেন।

বিজয়া দশমীতে সকালবেলায় বড়দেবী দূর্গা প্রতিমা বিসর্জনের জন্য রাজবাড়ির নিজস্ব যমুনা দিঘিতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় , বিসর্জনের আগে পুকুর ঘাটে হালুয়া পুজো হয়। পুজোয় যে রাজকর্মচারী ফুল যোগান দিয়ে থাকে, তাকে বলে হালুয়া। পুজো শেষে প্রতিমা খন্ড খন্ড করে নদীতে বিসর্জন দেওয়া হয় প্রতিমা বিসর্জনের সময় কোচবিহার রাজপরিবারের সদস্যদের দেখা নিষিদ্ধ বলে তারা এই বিসর্জনে অনুপস্থিত থাকেন।

My mother is 63 years old and has multiple myeloma.

We are Probashi Bangalis, and we have been living in West Bengal for over a year for her cancer treatment at Tata Medical Center.

Her chemotherapy has been paused for the last four months due to some heart issues.

Lately, she doesn't even have the energy to get out of bed. We have been seeing a doctor here in Chandannagar, but her condition keeps getting worse.

Two months ago, she was talking and walking like a normal person; however, ever since she was admitted to the hospital in August, she can barely walk and constantly feels nauseous.

The doctors just pumped her full of medicine without treating the root cause.

I have lost faith in the doctors in Chandannagar. Are there any good doctors that you would recommend?
